My Biggest Question Regarding Our Goalie Trade

Who are the goalie free agents this summer?

I think that Roloson for a 1st rounder to take us through this season is okay, since we have a team that could go a few rounds, and this is a weak as hell draft year.

But surely Roloson will not be our long term solution. This has rent-a-goalie written all over it.

So who is available to go after in the summer?

    Well....there's always the "create-a-player" option....
I officially retract my vote for DDS as Prime Minister. He's clearly incompetent.

      What? No EA GameFace (tm)?

Seriously Nuke, if you're gonna smoke pot while surfing, you could at least pass it around to me.

Great, we're gonna end up with a goalie who fights more than Bob Probert...

I know Biron and Raycroft are... not sure who else?

Cujo is an UFA, but at his age, I don't imagine any teams are looking at him as the 'goalie of the future'

If Biron is a UFA, I bet we make a big push for him in the offseason. He won't re-sign in Buffalo to be a backup. If not, and if Roloson plays well for us down the stretch and into the playoffs, we could probably sign him for not too much money for a couple years until something better comes along.

I believe he's a RFA but I'm betting he'll at least ask for a trade. No way he wants to be Miller's caddy for another year.
I thought I wanted a career; turns out I just wanted paychecks.

Pretty sure hes Unrestricted. Thats why front office wanted him traded so badly

Buffalo sure goofed with their goalie situation. They got a second round pick for Noronen, and could possibly lose Biron for nothing in the offseason.

I think the Oilers did good for this year, but they may have screwed the pooch in regards to the future. They traded alot of draft picks and I think they could've used some of those. They can't just make trades all the time. The only good side I see is that the Oilers are a young team.

Re: My Biggest Question Regarding Our Goalie Trade

In the old NHL, Edmonton could only rely on draft picks. If a pick panned out, they couldn't afford to keep them. Draft picks are a gamble. Oiler fans need a winner now.

Rolo indicated to the Oiler brass that he was hoping to call Edm home for a couple of years.
I will not, for a moment longer, support an organization who chooses to cowardly kneel where they once fiercely & proudly stood

I honestly think he will be number one next year. He is only thirty six. And the oilers seem high on their goalies of the future

This is a great move for Rolo's career. He may be 36, but he's getting a golden opportunity to become a clearcut #1 goalie. I sure hope it works out for him...
