    Oilers/Flamers

I'm surprised there is no thread yet, I sure hope the Oilers don't tank it.

At least spill some Flamer blood! Turn it into a battle not an Ice Capade!

    Go Oilers!

We have the vBookie jinx, but I'm still confident we can pull it out.

                    No kidding.

We had the puck for a good 5 seconds, at least, and he doesn't blow it down. Unbelievable.

No kidding, that one is for the Guiness Book......................a penalty was coming up against the Flamers. We had total control of that puck. Rolie was out too.

But this game once again proves the Oilers have no heart. Flames may not have the same talent, but they don't play stupid hockey.

13 shots, three goals. Two were not Roli's fault, they came giftwrapped.

Once again boneheaded giveaways cost the Oilers the game.

i'm no fan of Calgary anything... I'm just realistic.. Flames have had the Oils number all season long.

                            What a pathetic game.

As far as I'm concerned, this disgusting loss just reinforced two fundamental problems that have been plaguing the Oilers all season long:

                            1. Needless giveaways in their own end. To me, this signals a lack of effort. When you're fighting for your playoff lives, the last thing you should be doing is making casual cross-ice passes in your own end. Obviously, the Oilers (or, at least most of them) didn't come to play tonight. They should have been a lot sharper than the Flames, especially considering that Calgary played the previous night.

                            2. The lack of finish on scoring opportunities. The contrast between the Flames and the Oilers was sickening in this regard. The Flames made the most of their few chances whereas the Oilers bombed theirs, either shooting right into Kiprusoff's chest or completely missing the net. It isn't the quantity of shots on net that matters; it's the quality. Once again, the Oilers continue their penchant for making the opposing goalie look better than he is. No disrespect to Kiprusoff, but if the Oilers were sharp, they should have had about 4-5 goals tonight.

While I agree that the bumbled call did affect momentum to a certain degree, it certainly didn't make the difference in the game. The Oil have nobody to blame but themselves. If they're putting this kind of effort into what should be do-or-die games, they're already writing themselves an early playoff exit, that is, if they're lucky enough to hold on for a playoff spot in the first place.

The oilers effort wasnt what was lacking tonight...We came out emotionally ready with all the big hits and fans getting in to it. The only time we didn't put in effort was the last half of the third because of the emotional drainage from the Refs bull****. Kiprusoff was again amazing proving he is one of the best goalies I've ever seen. It was just a matter of MacT not being as prepared as Sutter was. Because the oil weren't prepared for the 2 man forecheck put on by Calgary we had those giveaways that caused two of the goals. We were out-smarted today and have been too many times this season.
