If the Oilers win the Stanley Cup, how many UFA's will want to sign here and play for a Stanley Cup team? I believe that if the Oilers win the Cup, Samsonov, Peca and Spacek will stay with the team, why would you leave a Stanley Cup winner and go some place else where you might not win a cup again, and even if they do not, I still think Samsonov and Spacek might stay, Peca, I do not know.

Re: If The Oilers Win the Cup
perhaps other FA from other teams might look at coming here - because of the playoff atmosphere, which alot of people nation wide are saying is unmatched in the NHL) If i was a player and I was saw how the city has gotten behind this team and The oilers offered me less than this other team, perhaps the atmosphere would sway my decision...

No, I mean if, "When" is an absolute and I do not deal in absolutes, anything can happen in game 7... I want the Oilers to win, but anything less then what they did in game 6 and they will not, that is my opinion.

Agreed. Look for Peca to be in Toronto, Buffalo, or New York befroe the summer is done.Originally posted by DieselSpacek will stay. Re: If The Oilers Win the Cup
Samsonov is gone for $4,000,000 to somewhere. Guaranteed.
Peca is gone to the east coast for $2,500,000 and atleast 2 years.
Samsonov is gone, simply because he's not worth more than $2,500,000... and some idiot is going to offer him $4,000,000 for a lot of flash and a lot less substance.
Peca is a huge family man and while he's proud.. he'll be back to the East coast for his family's sake. I'd take him back here for $2,000,000 / year in a heartbeat.. but he won't be back here.
Dvorak and Spacek will be a package deal, and will sign in Edmonton for a combined $3,500,000.
I have a feeling Roloson is going to take his pay day - and frankly if it's over $3,000,000 I hope it's not here.
I'm not sure what to expect out of Pisani, a part of me hope's that he'll stay where he's comfortable and sign for $4,500,000 over 3 years. That said, if he signs for $2,000,000 + in another city, I wouldn't hold it against him for a second, nor would I hold it against Lowe for not signing him.
Laraque is gone.
We have an option on Harvey, and I hope he stays."This year, we did what we were supposed to do. We fought as a team. We fought as a team. And the fact is, we gotta go back and go to work, to make sure we finish this next time. That's all we gotta do. This right here makes us stronger. Let's understand who we are as a team. Let's understand this right here makes us stronger." - Ray Lewis, January, 2012.

I agree, this run changed things.Originally posted by Edmonton FanRoloson, Pisani, Peca, Spacek all stay here.
Samsonov, I am not too sure of. He seems to place previous friendships higher on a scale than winning.Placing the Alberta Flag on the Calgary Flames uniform is akin to putting lipstick on a Pig

That may be a little harsh. Samsanov has blocked shots, dug in the corners, and has done things you couldn't pay him double to do 3 months ago.Originally posted by NanooksterI agree, this run changed things.

Samsanov's wife is from Detroit, he has a house there, and it is his summer home. If he doesn't return to the Oil, I see Sammy a Red Wing this fall."We knew, in that huddle, there was a group destined to apply the kind of pressure that had not been seen before." - Mike Singletary

I agree, he has played well for us. But the remorse he exibited after the trade makes me feel he wants to remain with old friends.
I am hoping he has since realized they will always be "there" and that new friends are in place.Placing the Alberta Flag on the Calgary Flames uniform is akin to putting lipstick on a Pig
