Did anyone see the Laraque interview before game 7?

For all you haters out there:

    1. Said his plan was to watch the game in the dressing room. Towards the end, he'd jump in the shower so he looked sweaty, put on his gear, and run out on the ice to make it look like he'd played the whole game.

    2. When asked about not playing, he said "No, I shouldn't be playing. They've won the games with Harvey in the line-up and you shouldn't change anything when you're winning."

Class act. I'm sure some of you will find ways to turn this around on him, but he's definately got the Oiler character down to a "t."
I officially retract my vote for DDS as Prime Minister. He's clearly incompetent.

I am a huge fan of Georges....I hope he is here next year but I understand why he wouldnt be....unfortunatly the new NHL doesnt have a lot of room for guys like Georges and with guys like Shremp, Puliot, Jaques and Winchester knocking on the door I think Mr. Laraque may be heading out the door.....

Just for the record though, he has been and will still be one of my favorite Oilers of all time, perhaps not for his skill but for his heart and personality!

If he made $500k then we may want to keep him. But he makes over a million, doesn't fight, and doesn't score or get points. Really...he's gotta go.

Wow....can't say enough how wrong you guys are on this one.

Georges, if and when he goes, will be missed. His own peers (players) rank him as the #1 enforcer in the game (I believe an SI poll) - and if he gets that much respect from the opponents, then he is well worth the $1million per that he gets. Think of other players where money is wasted on to compare......

Georges or Conklin ($1.14 mil, I believe)

He is not worth 1 mill. Now how he plays right now..... He was rated the best enforcer at that time.. that was 2 years ago. He's outta touch.. He needs to be more agressive and go looking for "stuff"

I use to really like GL.. but he's been useless the last while... IIRC someone was picking on one of our talented kids,, and GL did nothing.. I can't recall who stepped in and fought.. but right then and there I lost all interest in Laraque.

The poll was most intimidating player to play against if I remember correctly, and it was won by Chara. Laraque was a close second. But I agree with you 100%

George is a nice guy, who is very naive about the world of sports and his worth. I shouldn't be playing for the Oilers either because I am not as good as Harvey, does that make me a hero?

When is an enforcer not an enforcer? When he fights only the other teams tough guys in some kind of prearraged bout. If George was like Dave Brown or Dave Semenko and slapped guys like Avery, Ruttu and Gauthier around, even if he had to take a suspension then he'd be a great enforcer. Unfortunately if Avery sticks Hemsky, spits in his face and then slew foots Pisani George would look for La's tough guy to fight...next game.

                        BTW,

Georges looks like a steal at $1mill when Dvorak made $1.6 last year......
