    Denver/Knicks "Brawl"

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cCyM1ToRKwA

    15 games? For THAT?

Asides from the fact that the suspensions handed out here were ridiculous..

What the hell is with professional athletes expecting the other team to let up?

    Seriously?

Play some defense and maybe you won't get embarrassed.
"This year, we did what we were supposed to do. We fought as a team. We fought as a team. And the fact is, we gotta go back and go to work, to make sure we finish this next time. That's all we gotta do. This right here makes us stronger. Let's understand who we are as a team. Let's understand this right here makes us stronger." - Ray Lewis, January, 2012.

The fight went into the crowd. Carmelo sucker punched a guy right when things were starting to break up.

And why is it that the suspensions were out of line?

The NBA can kiss my ass. Their players act like idiots. They make these idiots in the NFL look tame by comparison. I din't realize that playing in the NBA was tantamount to waging war in the 'hood.

... and then hightailed it out of dodge

        What a punk
Look. We can go round and round about this all the live long day. Let's keep it simple. I embody amazement. Can you dig on that? Good. Then meet me on the corner of rock and roll, and bring a flask of something that burns.

Typical sucker puncher. If their boys don't back them up then they have to run away.

Maybe I'm just desensitized, but to me I thought anything more than 5 games for Anthony was more than enough..

It really didn't look that bad to me.

And not half as bad as him running away... that was just funny.

Hockey is the only sport that allows fighting. That will disappear soon too.

I was going to comment on that. I think all sports should allow fighting. Always wondered why in hockey it's allowed but no other sport. It's always broken up immediately and fines/suspensions are handed out.

Eh, we have at least another 10-15 years of it.. the BOG won't pass any bills. They're all old school.

Who knows, maybe someone will wake up and realize that if you take out the instigator and ban visors, you'd have a lot less stick-related injuries.

after seeing that FIU Miami brawl there is no way football would ever allow fighting. seeing helmets used as weapons is nothing that the NFL or the CFL would ever allow and its just dumb. Thats asking to be sued by the family of a dead guy who got killed when he was beated to death with a helmet.

The difference between fighting in the NHL and other leagues is that fighting is a part of the culture of hockey. You grow up fighting on the ice. NBA and NFL players dont grow up fighting on the court and field. Thats part of the reason its such a big deal is cuz it rarely happens. Fighting in the sports other than the NHL is uncalled for and would never be allowed

Baseball has their bench emptying affairs too.....and that will never change.

Funny thing is when these basketball brawls happen there is always guys just like Carmello taking their wild awkward looking swings and then backing off. Those guys just 'aint made for fightin'. (unless of course you're Kareem and have been trained by Bruce Lee )

Hey......the Phoenix Suns are quite clean, thank you very much.

The rest of the league - yeah, they can rot.

(Was impressed that the shorthanded Knicks beat Utah last night, though...PHX now is tied for first in the league (according to # of losses) with games in hand. )

Yeah, but calling those brawls is usually a tremendous stretch... if you're lucky there are two guys throwing punches, and everyone else standing around.

I was lucky enough to be involved in one once playing senior ball... it didn't exactly go over too well with the organizers as it was the feature game during a town fair...

Well hockey players don't use their sticks and skates as weapons so IMO your point of using helmets is nixed. But the fighting being part of the culture is true. But still I'd go for fighting in other sports.

watch the FIU MIAMI brawl here and note use of helmets as weapons

taking off your helmet is also a lot easier then taking off your skates before you fight (didnt stop Happy Gilmore though )
I recall a very intense situation Mcsorely and Brashear involving a stick that turned into a yearlong suspension and criminal charges...
