    New NFL TV deals

Looks like CTV will now be broadcasting NFL games, including the Super Bowl while Sportsnet gets some games as well.

Either way I hate watching NFL on Canadian stations.

I love the NFL . Don't worry, CFL first though.

It'll be interesting to see how they do it...I'm assuming that they'll just run the CBS/FOX broadcast, because if they did their own broadcast I wouldn't watch it.

I imagine they would take a feed. Global never ran their own broadcasts. They just had their lame ass ads over top the scoreboard or field.

NFL Sunday Ticket is the way to go.

No doubt. Better quality, get to choose which game you watch, not restricted by what's on the local channels, It'll be hard to go back to how I used to watch football.

Depending on the games that Sportsnet gets and how they distribute them there might be no need to NFL prime ticket. If Sportsnet has at least 2 different games that the whole country can watch (no black outs), combined with the feeds from the American station you should be able to catch the best games every week. If Sportsnet has to black games out in various regions then Prime Ticket for the more then casual NFL fan would definately be the way to go.

Do you actually think that that is going to happen and the NFL is going to loose revenue on Sunday ticket?

                          Re: New NFL TV deals

LIke I said it depends on how all the games are broadcast. Last year with cable I could at times get 3 or 4 different games at once. It depended on what Global was showing where (east/west split) and if it was the same games that Fox and CBS had on. This meant that with the Sunday night game I could get 6 to 7 different games (with the late games included), that covers about half the schedule every week. Not much need for Prime ticket if you have that.

Also there were not as many double headers on Global, because it was one station and it would have cost them a lot of money to braodcast 2 games every week. Now we are guarenteed a triple header in Canada every Sunday early game CTV, late game Sportsnet and then SUnday night football on TSN. By my count if 1 game is different from Fox and CBS that gives the average viewer with cable 7 games on Sunday to watch and could be as high as 9 if both CBS and Fox have different games in your area then the Canadian broadcaster. Once again not as much need to Prime Ticket. You are getting close to half the games for your cable package. Now if Sportsnet is able to use all of their Channels across Canada then that number goes up again. As I said it comes down to how the games are going to be broadcasted.

We have the advantage in Canada of having the extra broadcast outlets that the Americans don't have. Yes we have to put up with the Canadian commercials, but we get a better variety to chose from. It would be interesting to knowhow popular Prime ticket is for the NFL in Canada becasue of this

I'm not knocking your theory and for the casual fan it will save them a couple hundred bucks. I like the fact I can watch any game I want. If it comes to be like you say I have a 50/50 chance (usually 14 games/week) of getting the games I want or when the games really become important down the stretch buying the 1/2 season of Sunday ticket.

Agreed. The Hard core NFL fan is going to get Sunday Ticket (sorry used the american name) any way.
