2007-08 Champions League Draw

The draw among those clubs that qualified for this year;s CL group stage has been completed.

The top 2 in each group qualify for the next stage. The 3rd in each group drops down to the Uefa Cup. Each team plays the other teams in their group home and away. First games are Sept. 18/19.

If you like footie, then this is the competition to watch. It is the best football competition in the world, IMO. Yes, better than the World Cup.

I like the CL, too...normally don't pay all that much attention till the knockout stages, but some of these groups look pretty interesting.

Your Rangers look to be in pretty tough with Barcelona and Lyon, eh, DDS?

I don't expect Rangers to progress. But, anything is possible. Rangers are a greatly improved side over last year. Lyon have half of their squad out on long term injury. Stuttgart won the Bundesliga last year though. So, I expect that Barca and Stuttgart will advance while Rangers and Lyon battle for the Uefa Cup spot.

My predictions are:

A: Liverpool and Porto (Marseille to UC)
B: Chelsea and Schalke 04 (Valencia to UC)
C: Madrid and Bremen (Olympiakos to UC)
D: Milan and Benfica (Shaktar to UC)
E: Barca and Stuttgart (Lyon to UC)
F: ManUre and Roma (Sporting to UC)
G: Inter and CSKA (PSV to UC)
H: Arsenal and Sevilla (Prague to UC)

The upsets could be Kiev in group F, Rangers in Group E, Celtic in Group D and Fenerbahce in group G. There's always one big club that gets crashed out.

You'd be insane to NOT go. How hard to get will the tickets be?

Chelsea, Valencia AND Schalke 04. 3 HUGE clubs. That may be the most difficult and competitive group of them all.

I'm not really sure what the demand will be....the qualifiers I went to were half empty, but those were games against a Kazakstan team, and a Finnish team. It's a 22,000 seat stadium for a town of about 160,000 people. I'm hoping I should be able to secure at least a single ticket....

Baseball. At least in soccer stoppages are far and few between, for the most part - not after every pitch.
