    A Rod: 10years 275 Million!!

K so Mariano Rivera says he is accepting the Yankees$45 million, three-year offer.

And now the reports are out that Alex Rodriguez has/will recieve a 10-year, $275-million offer

Seriously is there a Salary Cap in baseball ?

    Nope.

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if A-Rod rejected it. He could get more, and he wouldn't have to deal with all of the crap he deals with in NY.

Where do teams get this kind of money. Do they do that well in gate sales? Merchandise? Do that many people inhale 7 dollar hot dogs?

          Some do.

Take the Yankees...say they avg 40k at $30 for an avg ticket.

40 000 x 30 x 81 home games = over $97 million for just the gate. And that's most likely on the low side - Yankee Stadium IIRC seats 55k, but they don't sell it out every night.

They sell merch through the roof, the national TV contract is probably pretty good as well (and they have their own local network, too), and the concessions are probably decent.

There are probably not very many years where they lose money, even with their ridiculous payroll.

And a family that owns much much more than just the Yankees. The money made or lost through the Yankees is a drop in the ocean for the Steinbrenner family.

Contrary to what the media reports, A-Rod likes it in NY and I actually don't think he could get more elsewhere. There just aren't many team's out there willing to pay 1 guy over 30 mil...

                  Anaheim?

I just can't help but think they'd do anything to give Vlad some protection.

Never mind that kind of protection...

When you have a 10 million dollar suite on the top of Trump World Tower, Anaheim doesn't look so appealing...
