    Richard Zednik cut by skate

    ...in the throat. Game stopped for a while, but in continued once they said he was in stable condition.

    Talk about a close call.

    Wasn't it Clint Malarchuck (sp) that had his throat slashed as a member of the Sabers.
    When you don't know that you don't know, it's a lot different than when you do know that you don't know.

      You're right. That's who crossed my mind too - I remember watching the replays of the goalmouth crash.

        Terrifying incident. Zednik was smart to skate quickly to the bench which probably saved his life. Had he just dropped to the ice like most players would have, who knows...

          saw this on sportnet last night.. pretty gruesome... looked to be alot more blood that Clint's cut... then again IIRC clints blood didn't spurt out like Richard's did...

              I haven't seen it yet but it sounded pretty bad when I heard about on the radio this morning.

                That is two people on the weekend that got hit by Skates inthe face/throat area. A linesman on Saturday got a skate in the face, I believe in the Philly game. Those skates are so sharp I am really surprised that this does not happen more often, espically infront of the net. Thankfully he is going to be OK though.

                  First time I've seen that. Yikes. Blood squirting like that and everyone rushes over to control the little scrum happening off to the side before anyone checks the goalie out.

                    I just find it odd that the two times in recent NHL history where this has occurred, the Buffalo Sabres have been one of the teams involved in both incidents.
