Rush Review...the day we kicked San Jose BUTT

I missed little bits and pieces because of the "Rush Fan Bus" Booth work that needed to get done but San Jose is leaving E-town with a LOT less ego.

HOLY CRAP WERE THE RUSH EXCELLENT YESTERDAY.

    COACHING

I got the guys autograph I'm soooo freakin impressed!! I'm not impressed that he made a bunch of moves, I'm freakin impressed that he took all these guys and made them play like a team possessed tonight.

    GOALTENDING

Palidwor did not need to great. He played a solid game never letting San Jose get any momentum and never letting San Jose stop our momentum.

    Great job Pali!!

    TRANSITION

    BEST GAME EVER

    DEFENCE

    BEST GAME EVER

I've never seen the team play so physical. Chris McKay is a hitting machine. I actually found myself looking forward to the Stealth setting up their offense because our defense was play soo rough, soo tough, soo in your face. WOW

Pointstreak is only crediting Mac Allen with a 50% faceoff percentage but jebus murphy it was nice to see him back. I will now stop complaining about our faceoff as he is back and several months before anyone expected to be back.

    OFFENCE

    BEST GAME EVER

Yes there's been games with more goals or more shots or more chances but last night was the best 55 minute complete package effort I've ever seen this team display(I say 55 minute because it was plain to see they were just ragging the ball for the last 5 minutes)

Where I thought it would take the team at least a half to get their offense somewhat on track, once the first goal went in, insta-gel!!

Much like our defence, aggression on offence was at the highest I've ever seen it...I LOVE IT.

    SPECIAL TEAMS

    BEST GAME EVER

Our PP looked good but all the props here go to our PK unit.

TWO SHORTHANDED GOALS...the Glaves goal has to be the fastest I've ever jumped out of my seat to cheer a goal!!

4 teams in each division make it. 5 teams in the West Div total (due to Arizona pulling out this year), 7 in the East. No crossover. Tiebreaker is season series.

One-game divisional semis, div final, championship.

          West Div standings right now:

          Colorado: 6-4
San Jose: 6-5, .5 game back
          Portland: 4-7, 2.5 games back
          Calgary: 4-8, 3 games back
          Edmonton: 3-7, 3 games back

          Rush remaining sched:

          Apr 5: CGY
          Apr 12: @ CGY
          Apr 13: @ SJ
          Apr 18: @ COL
          Apr 19: COL
          Apr 26: CGY

          Rush situations:

vs COL: 0-1 season series, 2 games remaining, 3 games back
vs SJ: 1-1 season series, 1 game remaining, 2.5 games back, 1 game in hand
vs POR: 1-2 season series, 0 games remaining, .5 game back, 1 game in hand
vs CGY: 0-0 season series, 3 games remaining, 0 games back, 2 games in hand

If we play every game like we did last night, we will go 5-1. No question.
A more realistic expectation is 3-3, and if 2 of those wins are against CGY, we have a very good shot at being in.
Colorado will win enough down the stretch that they're pretty safe. But catching any one, maybe two, of the others is plausible.

COL remaining sched: Apr 3 ROC, Apr 5 @ BUF, Apr 12 @ NY, Apr 18 EDM, Apr 19 @ EDM, Apr 25 @ SJ

They will probably win four of those, give or take one. I expect them to lose in Buffalo (BUF is good, plus COL will be tired AND has to travel far), and one other, maybe the one here or in SJ. Or even vs Rochester.

SJ remaining sched: Apr 5 @ POR, Apr 6 POR, Apr 13 EDM, Apr 18 POR, Apr 25 COL

Portland and SJ are both streaky teams - could beat anyone or lose to anyone on any night. Since they play tons at home, and Portland's not great, I expect them to win at least three and probably four.

POR remaining sched: Apr 5 SJ, Apr 6 @ SJ, Apr 11 PHI, Apr 18 @ SJ, Apr 26 BUF

I figure Portland will win three give or take one...Philly and Buffalo are both good, but they're both in Portland. And their series with SJ will be 2-1 for somebody, but who is anyone's guess.

CGY remaining sched: Apr 5 @ EDM, Apr 12 EDM, Apr 19 TOR, Apr 26 @ EDM

Calgary will probably take one and hopefully not two from us, but Toronto should beat 'em.

So, our chances are good. But there are so many divisional games and up-in-the-air outcomes that the final standings are impossible to predict right now. We could win four and still miss, I think ...depending on how the other games go.

All of that being said, the fact that we overhauled over half the roster in the last three games, and are 2-1 against fairly good teams in those games, AND that last night was absolutely unbelievable, I'm optimistic.

          Woo!

BTW, next week's game will be MONSTROUS, obviously...and it's Calgary. I hope some of you come out.

Oh, not last night, they didn't.

If you take away that 0-5 start that our incompetent ex-coaching staff got us into, we're 3-2 in the last five, playing some fairly good teams, too (Toronto, Rochester, SJ) in there.

Keep an eye on them. 5 in a row might be pushing it...but if they play every game like last night, it's not out of the question.

Was the first game afterthe trade deadline. We madea bunch of moves at the deadline but some made some as soon as Hamley become HC.

The Rush have the 6 games that Giz listed left in the season.
