i don't want to sound offensive or anything, but what do you see in NASCAR? is there something that a casual auto race fan has to know in order to enjoy stock car racing? i can handle watching indy car and formula 1 but whenever i watch NASCAR is seems really boring.

The drivers are the most accessable in all the big league racing series to the fans, the cars look like cars, it takes an incredible amount of skill to drive a car that has just as much horsepower as Champcars yet weigh over 1200lbs more and 2/3 less areodynamic, pit stops are more exciting as more can go wrong impacting the outcome of a race, and unlike open wheelers, a little bit of contact doesn't automatically take one's car out of the race.

Next time you're in Vegas, go out to the track to the Richard Petty Experience and sign up for a day on the track. You can either spend the whole day out there and learn to drive the car yourself or you can take a "hot lap" with an instructor. Make sure you have clean shorts for later!

I should check that out myself when I go down to Vegas, going down for a Tournament in May, so maybe I'll take a quick look down there while I'm around. By any chance, do you have any idea on the prices?
