Re: Brian Burke no longer GM of Ducks
Interesting.
Guess guess he's off to run another team into mediocrity..."This year, we did what we were supposed to do. We fought as a team. We fought as a team. And the fact is, we gotta go back and go to work, to make sure we finish this next time. That's all we gotta do. This right here makes us stronger. Let's understand who we are as a team. Let's understand this right here makes us stronger." - Ray Lewis, January, 2012.

Re: Brian Burke no longer GM of Ducks
Off season for Toronto? I could see it happening before the end of the month. Fletcher is only tempary, and bringing in Burke early would allow him some time before the trade deadline to see the players and the organization and make some moves. That would make the most sense.
Hold it brain fart, used Burke, Toronto and making sense all in the same paragraph."Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy."

According to the updated TSN article:
"Sources say Burke will, in this advisory capacity, have the ability to freely negotiate future employment opportunities as a GM in the NHL."
Burke will be in Toronto in 2009. Whether it's THIS season or next, depends on how much money MLSE throws at him...#PizStrong

I actually feel bad for Leaf fans.....
No one deserves to have that idiot ruining their team."This year, we did what we were supposed to do. We fought as a team. We fought as a team. Unless of course by some grace of god, the jack-hole delivers my team of choice a Stanley Cup Championship.......Before you insult a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way, when you insult him, you'll be a mile away, and have his shoes.

Re: Brian Burke no longer GM of Ducks
All he's shown in the past 10 years is an amazing ability to screw up the accomplishments of others... he just wasn't in Anaheim long enough to screw up having Rob Neidermayer there to bring in Scott, Selanne loving the city and some excellent drafting.Originally posted by Opus View PostTo quote Clint Eastwood from Unforgiven...."deserves got nothin' to do with it".....

I'm 90% sure no team in the NHL has paid more players to not pay for them than the Ducks since the lockout ended. $1,500,000 to Marchant to play in CBJ, $4,000,000 to pay Fedorov to play in CBJ, $4,000,000 to Bertuzzi to NOT play in Anaheim...."This year, we did what we were supposed to do. Re: Brian Burke no longer GM of Ducks
Oh, he also drafted Bobby Ryan, who is a family friend, 2nd OV.Originally posted by Opus View PostI know......thanks heaps!
He took him ahead of:
Price, Kopitar, Jack Johnson, Setoguchi, Marc Staal, Andrew Cogliano, Parent, Paul Stastny, Hanzal, Niskanen, Bergfors....

He very easily could've taken that pick and traded it for the 5th and a good 2nd and come out with something like Price and Stastny....
