    Matt Cooke...

    What an embarrassment to the league. This clown needs to be suspended for the rest of the year, and beyond that the Pens need to ship his ass to the minors. Lemieux needs to put his money where his considerable mouth is.



    Dirtiest player in the league, and it isn't even close anymore. He's already cost one superstar his bloody career.

    Marc Savard is hardly a superstar....but the league needs to send a message so 20 games is not out of line here. Also the Pens need to get rid of this clown once and for all.

        Pretty telling when even his own coach had no excuses... actually he looked like he'd like to unload on Cooke right in the presser. With all the lip service about head shots and cracking down, if Cooke isn't gone for the rest of the season, including playoffs, I'd be shocked and disaapointed. A more blatant elbow to the head one would be hard pressed to find.

          That's about it, he better either get in front of this and deep-six Cooke himself before the league weights in... or he just proves himself to be another self-interested blow hard.

            I'd guess he only gets 10... the guy should have had the book thrown at him ages ago, but Colin Campbell is an idiot.

                Matt Cooke=Biggest Piece of Trash in the NHL

                Flys in with the elbow up. Yeah, that always looks good.

                Hope he gets the rest of the season off but I doubt it. He is a repeat offender though.

                  Hardly a superstar? This guy was going to be great!

                  As for Cooke, kick his ass out of the league, this is BS!!! I think the fans at Consol were booing Cooke directly, not the fact that they were short-handed. Brutal excuse for a human...

                      Please, Marc Savard is a good player, don't overstate this ability, he isn't a superstar. The hit on Marc Savard wasn't dirty, and didn't deserve any sort of suspension.

                      That being said, as Pens fan, Matt Cooke is embarrassing, and he is beyond defence, he is dirty,and the elbow yesterday was disgusting. Tired of his dumb ****, and I hope Mario does the right thing, and hands down some sort of supplementary discipline to Cooke, and we release him at the end of the year.

                      It is a shame, because Matt Cooke isn't a bad hockey player.

                      PS: The hypocrisy of NHL fans when commenting about Matt Cooke's antics is hilarious, you all have skeletons in your closet, stop acting so self righteous.

                            He went high, targeted the head and hit a defenseless player after the puck had left his stick. That was a deliberate attempt to hurt Marc Savard, and guess what? Mission accomplished. He ended the guy's career.

                            As far as Savard not being a superstar, that's neither here nor there, but the stats speak for themselves. He finished 9th in league scoring in '06, '07 and '09. He missed a total of 8 games over 4 years before the Cooke hit.


                            As far as the second bit, no NHL team is squeaky clean, but Cooke is in a category with maybe Sean Avery and that's it. You can safely lump him in with Claude Lemieux and Ulf Samuelsson as the dirtiest players ever.
