    Bosch and Rodriguez on 60 Minutes

    For those of you who didn't watch tonight's show, it was quite revealing and pretty shocking in places.

    Undoubtedly, A-Rod cheated and lied about performance enhancing drugs and in that sense he is no different than other drug cheats.

    What I found to be very chilling (if it's true) is how A-Rod's "associates" asked Bosch to leave the U.S. and head down to Columbia, where undoubtedly he would never have returned--except in a pine box.

    Sure, Bosch is a scumbag but I found his story to be quite believable. Clearly, A-Rod has the cash to put your lights out and its no wonder this Bosch guy jumped into the arms of MLB.

    I have to laugh at poor A-Rod for being so dumb. Why would you leave hundreds of phone records with this guy unless you believed that there was no chance of getting caught--so naïve and foolish.

    Anyway, it looks like Alex is a very bad boy. I wonder when we will see him in the HOF?

    I would almost ask "if" instead of "when". The guy has all but trashed his reputation.
    Keep an open mind, and you never know who might walk in...

      Hey, when the guy can cost you tens of millions of dollars, what's a few thousand to get him whacked?!

      It's like Marion Jones, or Lance Armstrong, the more damning the evidence the more belligerent the defense... until the house of cards eventually comes crashing down. But we aren't there just yet, and until then these people seem to have actually convinced themselves that they're innocent... and to a large extent, it's the denials that make the story ever bigger. Athletes getting popped for PED's nary raises an eyebrow anymore, particularly in baseball.
      Look. We can go round and round about this all the live long day. Let's keep it simple. I embody amazement. Can you dig on that? Good. Then meet me on the corner of rock and roll, and bring a flask of something that burns.

        The atheletes dont care if they get caught. They offer up some weird sorid tale of why they did(devil made me do it, the Russians planted, everybody is doing it) It doesn't matter they have made millions by the time the truth comes out. Then what 'you my medal back okay, i still get to keep my 20 million. Okay take the trophy but I still have my bank account. Suckers.
        If athletes cared, free agents wouldn't leave a perennial contender for more cash and a losing team. It's all about the money.
        A friend played in the Phillies organization. He said the clubhouse was brutal. If a star player made $10 more than the next star. The winner in the salary contest made sure he let everone know almost daily that he made the most money. It's all ego.

          The arrogance of Rodriguez and other MLB stars does not surprise me, nor does the steroid use but what caught my attention is how (allegedly I admit) Rodriguez tried to move Bosch to Columbia where he could dispose of him.

          It's one thing to have a huge ego and want ever more money, women etc. but even this gang will usually stop short of murder. This Rodriguez guy has to qualify as one of the true bad boyz in sports.

          Here is something amusing-- I went to the Calendar store at lunch and on the shelf was a 2014 Yankee Calendar. Guess who the feature player was for January? Yup, you guessed it.

                I kinda think Rose would have gotten off lighter is he was exposed for betting on baseball later. The owners/commissioner had such overreaching powers back in the 70's and 80's... and it wasn't just official stuff, just running afoul of one team could get you black balled and the other teams just went along with it (ie. Bill Lee).

                If all were right in the world Pete Rose would be in the hall of fame, and the home run record would still be 61 for a season and 755 for a career

                  I met Pete Rose in Las Vegas at a sport card show and I can tell you that he is a complete jerk but you're right, when you compare his story to that of Clockwork Orange Alex here, his crimes seem minimal.

                  As bad as guys like Clemens, Rose, McGwire were, I don't think they would have tried to have you whacked.

                    You had to see him at a show there?

                    For a couple years he had residence at a memorabilia shop in Caesars forum shops.
                    Before you insult a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way, when you insult him, you'll be a mile away, and have his shoes.

                      Caesar's forum shops was where I saw him and I assumed it was a show. I didn't know he was a fixture.

                        Oh yeah, he was there for a couple years until he got his reality show spot last year. There was a store across and just down from that one that specialized in sports memorabilia though. Saw Butkus, and Andre Dawson at that place. Still kicking myself about not picking up some stuff there.

                          I asked Rose what it was like to play with the Big Red Machine and Johnny Bench. He didn't so much as turn his head from the t.v. he was watching and he said "Ya, Bench wasn't a bad player."

                          A real charmer.
