Monday Night Fair Catch Call

for those of you who didn't see this...in the MNF game, the charger punt returner called for a fair catch, muffed the catch, and a steeler player caught the ball after it had bounced off the charger player. it was then ruled Fair Catch Interference, and possession was given to San Diego with a 15 yard penalty.

personally, i hate the call, the ref determined the charger player should've still had a chance to catch the ball, but IMO, he had a chance and muffed it, so i think it should've been live, i think it's one of the worst calls i've ever seen. what do you think?

I thought, if a fair catch is called for, then as soon as the ball touches a player of the receiving team at all, it's dead?

nope, just means he has a fair chance of catching the ball without anyone interfering, but he can't return the ball after, if the ball hits the ground, it's like a normal punt

The ball was going forward, player was going backwards.. no chance to get it.

Yeah, I know the basics......ah, I wasn't sure on what happened if it hit the ground.
