The job of being a policeman is not an easy one, however they reap what they sow when they treat the general public with contempt and apathy like in Phil's case.
I can't say I agree with you Diesel.

The Diotte mess is totally blown out of proportion and the Calgary Police Service cleared the EPS on it.

The worst thing that occurred was incorrect radio procedures. Foul language is not un-ethical. It is more like workplace banter that occurs around water fountains at work everyday in every walk of life. Un-professional? YES. Un-ethical- NO.

The Police were responding to a complaint. It wasn't like they were pouring the drinks down Diott's throat. The only thing that saved him was another reporter whom was entrusted with an encrypted police radio tipped him and his pal off.

I hope that reporter get charged as he was entrusted with that piece of equipment. With it comes laws, one of which is they do not get involved or in the way of any police operation.

The whole problem with the Overtime situation is the Police are restricted to what they can say. The other two clowns can chirp as much as they want and spread miss-information through the media.

The Police Commissioner was in allot of trouble and that is the real reason he stepped down. By accepting the job that he did he can no longer be held liable for offering the Police Chief's position to the person in Kelowna. It was careful maneuvering on his part which the media failed to report on.

My point is that there seems to be a pattern or attitude that stems through the system that they don't have to answer to anyone.

Re: The Edmonton Police Service is pathetic...

Just wanted to add to this tonight (this is why i'm still up...) the neighbor kids next door had a hot tub party tonight whilst mom & dad were obviously out....they were acting like orangutans all night and by 1am I had had enough and called the cops...1:30 I call them again and the desk jockey tells me that they're very busy tonight and should be there soon....1:45 my wife calls because she cannot sleep with the racket going on....explains how these kids are going to be leaving in their cars soon...the officer says "oh, great...."

finally at 2:05am I call one last time, I tell them to cancel the call since the party has wrapped up and all the drunk little kiddies are now hopping into their cars to head home....the desk monkey then tells me how busy they were, that there was currently 17 calls on the north side and no one available....
I told him to expect a few more, cuz those drunk kids were hitting the streets as we spoke....he responds with the most condisending "yes sir, thank you sir" that you ever heard....
I am so f***ing pissed right now at the bloody incompatance that I cannot sleep...I suppose it would be a different story if his wife and kid were on the road tonight. I guess if it was some dickhead reporter instead of a bunch of drunkenass teenagers that I could have got half the force over here

Go over and piss in their hot tub one night. The joke will be on them next time they are in it.

Or, do what I do. Fire up your lawnmower, and leave it running outside their bedroom window, late at night. It's the best tank of gas you'll ever go through.

The a$$holes will make sure peace and quiet is kept in your 'hood from that point on.

Uh, no way I would do any of that stuff. Its not always the parent's fault that the kids are deceiving little ****s. Why take it out on them? Tell the parents, sure, but don't mess with property.

Dies definitally has the right idea, drugs will get those cops off thier asses in no time. They assume everybody at Harry Ainlay is a dealer, hammering threats into the innocent while being completely oblivious to the fact that most dealers aren't the punk rock or poorer kids. Its the rich spoiled ones who have the money to burn and no stresses except those they create for themselves.

Fish, I'm thinking you were caught beside one of either Ross Shep's or Jasper Place's aftergrads. The schools cannot sanction anything so naturally this crap happens. Sad really.

Then why are there three disciplinary hearings underway?
The Police were responding to a complaint.
From who? The Easter Bunny or Santa Claus? I think you're a bit naive if you believe it was a legitimate complaint. Why where the officers joking about the validity of the "tip" during the radio conversations...and expressing worry about leaving an electronic trail by running names through the data base?
And the big question....why was Diotte's name run through the system way before the Overtime incident...and even before they received the "tip"?

The disciplinary hearings were not recomendations of the Calgary Police Service. Plus, they are innocent until proven guilty.

From a very close co-worker of Diotte's, who ratted him out. That much was released today in the paper.

Blame it on the politicans who underfund the EPS.

my wife actually saw the Dad outside yesterday getting into his car...asked him if they were home on Friday night...

buddy tells her that they got home real late and my wif started into him about how loud the kids were until 2am and that we we not the only ones who called the cops (and that a decent neighbor would tell others that his kids are having a party)...he basically just shrugs and drives off...he rented the damn tub for the kids but didn't think that he should let his neighbors know what they had cooking?????

*BTW, I have talked to him on numerous occasions previously about:

                          (a) One of his kid's is in a band, that always Jam there...Amps cranked so loud that I get the bass riffs overpowering my TV (and that he needs to either sound proof his basement or rent the kids a studio)

                          (b) His motherf***ing dog which barks at anything and nothing, screams up to the fence with hair raised on back and scares the living s*** out of my little guy....

                          - Not to mention that their family of 4 now has 4 cars and none park in the garage, yet on occasion park encroaching into the edge of my driveway (law states vehicle must remain 4 feet from leading edge of private DW - I actually got a ticket for that once)
