Re: Female Profs still getting screwed...

I respect that women raise children...'cause I couldn't do it. Too hard of a job.

But the fact that I may work my tail off for 20 years straight before getting promoted to a senior VP position is also hard work! I think seniority DOES have something to do with it.

Now, in the case of professors, a number of 'em have kids while doing their Ph'D...thus, a lot of them "enter the workforce" at the same time -- post doctorate -- so I feel that, in fact, there CAN be more of a level playing field at Universities. Accordingly, more women should be promoted if they've put in the same time as male counterparts.

Read an interesting article about this. Most of the equal work/equal pay stats don't take into account the fact that many women don't work a full week. This allows them to take care of the kids after school for instance. Factor that in, and Canadian women make $0.98 for every $1.00 a man makes.
I officially retract my vote for DDS as Prime Minister. He's clearly incompetent.

Actually, I look down my nose at the men of 2 generations ago and older. Not only was their treatment of women immoral, but the result has been a backlasg that has caused a dismantling of many of our society's gender roles that worked so well.

the root of feminism is that there were a few men being such total ***holes that women decided that "something had to be done"

I agree, there are so many roles in todays society that men are better at, and ones that women are better at, yet people can't say that because its too "discriminatory"

I wish my woman cooked and cleaned for me.

Seems the roles are reversed these days when it comes to cooking.

The title of this thread could very easily be "Female workers still getting screwed."

I'm going to have to google the exact day (end of March??) where it marks from that day forward until the end of the year, the amount of money a man makes in that time fram is the same amount a woman makes throughout the entire year.

And yes, I sucked at explaining it.

for the same job though? I'd say it's because men typically hold higher position jobs.

                            Yes, for the same jobs.
I don't mean a woman working a makeup counter, compared to a fat guy in his corner office.

If a man has the same job as a woman, but has been with the company for 10 years longer, then he deserves to be paid more. This is often the case.

would nurses be included in the "Female workers still getting screwed" category? 'cause that's pretty hot too...
