School Shooting, Again... 15 injured, 7 dead?

    http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/reuters/0...ting_school_dc

Media starts to blame music, movies and video games in 3, 2, 1....

Amazing how much of a common occurrence this has become though. Hopefully everyone fully recovers and no deaths result from this, outside of perhaps the slime who was the gunman....
"This year, we did what we were supposed to do. We fought as a team. We fought as a team. And the fact is, we gotta go back and go to work, to make sure we finish this next time. That's all we gotta do. This right here makes us stronger. Let's understand who we are as a team. Let's understand this right here makes us stronger." - Ray Lewis, January, 2012.

Before you insult a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way, when you insult him, you'll be a mile away, and have his shoes.

There is less and less respect for human life and the well being of others. No countdown is required.

But I was just starting to feel like a trend setter....

You are, of course, 100% right.

It's the "me generation," and it sure as hell sucks to be a part of it.

                Six.

**** this sucks. Why so many loonies nowadays? Stuff like this was a once every ten years thing back in the 60s (Charles Whitman is the only one that comes to mind). How many school shootings since Columbine? Gotta be a couple a year at least.

If they blame the media, I'll flip.....society needs to take the blame....people, not music or video games....people. Blaming the media is just a self-serving bias so that no one can take blame for their actions.

                  /rant.

That said, it really is sad how anyone can resort to this...and the increase in school shootings is a sad thing to see.

                    Very true on all counts.

Stop the media sensationalizing of these things. In fact, stop reporting them at all. The frequency of these incidents will be decimated.

I don't know if it is a conscious effort, but this story is barely getting a mention on the TV and radio. The National had about a 10-15 sec story with no pictures.

I don't know if it good for the reasons you mentioned. Or if it is sad that it is commonplace and not newsworthy.

But in the internet media, they have the name of the shooter and where he lives and the name of the father and where he lives. If I was that man, I think I would sue. WTF good will it do to tell the world the name and where his dad lives.

Colour me desensitized then to the fact that there are it seems a growing number of loose screws running around who instead of just taking the cowards way out, feel they need to take out as many innocent people with them as they can......

It's going to happen again.....and again.......and again......and each time people will try and make sense of it and the motivations behind it, yet nothing will stop the next nut with a gun from hurting and killing more innocents.....

This is one thing that I cannot ever get desensitized to. Every time something like this happens, it gets harder and harder to see my wife and my other friends who are teachers enter into school.

I know it's irrational and that the odds of it happening here are next to nothing. But they were also next to nothing at Columbine, Taber and West Virginia.

I just want to know what I can do to stop crap like this from happening. Our kids and students, hell every single one of us deserve better.
It's gonna be legen... wait for it, and I hope you're not lactose intolerant because the second half of the word is ...dary....
