    Lunar Eclipse tonight!

There's a Lunar Eclipse tonight... get out and watch it! (I believe most of AB and all of BC will only get a partial lunar eclipse as it will already be underway by the time the moon rises in those areas.)

Eyes to the sky at the following times (event occurs simultaneously for all viewers):

The partial eclipse will begin at:
    10:13 NT
    9:43 AT
    8:43 ET
    7:43 CT
    6:43 MT
    5:43 PT

... with the total eclipse happening at:
    Newfoundland ~ 11:30 p.m. - 12:21 a.m.
    Atlantic ~ 11:00 - 11:51 p.m.
    Eastern ~ 10:00 - 10:51 p.m.
    Central ~ 9:00 - 9:51 p.m.
    Mountain ~ 8:00 - 8:51 p.m.
    Pacific ~ 7:00 - 7:51 p.m.
    Turf Toe:
    - "...turf toe is a common malady that is more of a nuisance than a serious injury."
    - "Turf toe can often progress into a chronic problem..."
    - "A mild instance of turf toe (grade 1) can be merely aggravating while a serious case (grade 3) can be debilitating."

We get total as well. In fact you say so, TT.

I love these kind of things. But lunar eclipses aren't that exciting.

I still remember, despite being a wee lad, the solar eclipse we had in '79. Now that was cool.

          Ditto

We had a decent partial solar eclipse late 80's early 90's too IIRC.....

I remember that they made us have an indoor recess in Elementary school, so we wouldn't look up and burn our eyes out outside.

In addition to the eclipse the spy satellite the Americans are shooting down tonight should be visible in the extreme souther sky for a short while around 6:30. If they explode it in the right place we might get to see flaming wreckage disintegrating too! Here's hoping.

The Enterprise will be in high Earth orbit, so I can't remember why we here on planet won't see them.

Anyway, the satellite will be visible at 7:08, look up at 9-9:30 for flaming debris.

So, where in the sky should I be looking for the exploded satellite?

Better hope he doesn't answer "straight up".
Out of my mind; back in five minutes.

The answer is 'up'. Though probably up and to the south. Since no one knows exactly where a spy satellite is, or where they are going to 'splode it. I can't tell you any closer then that. People are expecting they'll shoot it down over the North Pacific since they've told plane to stay the hell away from there for a few hours tonight. I don't know if flaming debris will be visible in Alberta, let along Saskatchewan.

I heard on the news it would only be visible possibly in Vancouver - Glen you might be in luck in Squamish
