    Woo Hoo for me

Finally joined the HD age. Picked up the Panasonic 42" Z77 Plasma TV (1080p) along with the Samsung BP1400 Blu-Ray player. Still waiting for the home theatre to come in (Bose 321 GS II). Huge fan of Discovery HD as well as Oasis HD. Any science show looks amazing. Only using the Wii sparodically until the set gets broken in (the guys told me about 100 to 200 hours should be good).

My question is for when the Bose gets in. Should I directly hook up from the DVD, Wii and Digital Cable box audio to the receiver or should I just use 1 cable from the TV to the receiver? Any and all tips are appreciated.

Also, what do you guys recommend for the cables? Coaxial digital audio or optical digital audio input?

If you like the science shows...get Planet Earth on Blu-Ray or HD DVD.

For cables, use HDMI. We have all the cables plugged into the receiver.

Is Planet Earth on Blu-Ray? I've only seen it in DVD. That being said, upconverted DVDs look great to me. Hell, after having a 27" Sanyo for the last 12 years, most TVs look great to me

I have the HDMI for the Blu-Ray but not the cable (have Monster component cables - Sasktel recommended not using HDMI for the cable yet) but the receiver does not have HDMI as an option for the audio.

But you would recommend having each component go into the receiver for the audio?

You guys are all speaking greek to me.

When I finally do get an HDTV, I'm going to have to call the geek squad to install it for me.

It was greek to me as well at first. But once you do the legwork to figure out what kind of set you want, etc, you'll probably have done enough research to figure out a lot of it yourself.

Oh, and when you mentioned Geek Squad, I have to give a shout out to Best Buy in Regina, they gave me a hell of a deal.

Planet Earth in Blu-Ray is great.

                    I love my 42" LCD + PS3 + 360 + Home Theatre.

                    Oh yeah. Life is good.

Apparently you can get the geek squad from best buy to not only go in a set it up for you, but they will also set the colours of the TV for your specific room, apparently depending on the brightness of the room the colours will vary. I had a buddy who thought it was BS until he had it done, (had a guy he knows works for best buy so got a bit of deal) and he said it makes a difference.

Thank God for the anonymity of the internet! But for the most part, you'd guys be more than welcome to stop by for a steak and beer. Hell, I'll even let you guys wear green .
