The Most Dangerous Cities in Canada

    Macleans new survey

Thought you guys might like to take a gander at the first three entries in this table But don't get too cocky until you look at #5! I'm nestled nicely, not so far away from #89. And those of you in St. Albert...look at #95.

Sure you can argue these numbers back and forth, but it's always fun to take potshots at your favourite targets, so I thought I'd post it.
Out of my mind; back in five minutes.

I have hard time believing that I live in the most dangerous city in Canada. Maybe I ought to put on a costume and fight crime at night. I'll clean up this city I will....

I dont think the criminals will be scared of a man in a giant triple Decker hamburger costume

The only one that surprised me in the Top 5 was Saskatoon. I thought Vancouver would have been higher up.

So the city I work in is more than 100% greater than the national average, but the place I live is 33% less than the national average. Hmmm...

          Calgary still sucks.

Really? If I saw a man dressed like a gaint hamburger running at me, I'd be pretty scared. There's no telling what he'll do next...

I'd be terrified he'd give me cholesterol (um, not sure how to spell it, but it's that artery-clogging fatty stuff; you know).

I think that we would should take this stuff with a grain of salt.

People from Vancouver tell me that crime is rampant in many parts of the City but it doesn't make the top 7 here?

I think something that the survey misses is that in larger cities crime is simply not reported because people know that the chances of an arrest are negligible.

I had no idea you had to watch your back in Saskatoon

                  Hang on, isn't Vancouver 8th?

Coming from there, I can say that crime is rampant is some parts of the city, but not others. People right now have a bad view of the danger because of the gang shootings, but overall the crime data isn't horrible. Not great either, mind you.

But certainly, a grain or two of salt help!

I thought the gang stuff would have just upped the numbers.

Really though, this survey is just reported crime per capita. It doesn't put any weight towards violent crimes. Saskatoon's numbers are probably stacked with driving offenses and teenagers shoplifting. There are no shootings here, no big time offenses. A lot of drugs, sure, but I don't live in a dangerous or violent city.

You mentioned a lot of drugs. Is it true that yourself and Ol'Jase are picking up some extra cash on the side?

Pfft, these studies are meaningless. Saskatoon is the most dangerous city in country? Over Vancouver? I don't think so. Hasn't Macleans got better stuff to write about than this drivel? And I'm not in a gang and I don't do drugs so I feel safe in Edmonton.

I'll say it again: Pfft. Move along, folks. Nothing to see here.

Yup. I see St. Albert made the list at #95. Time to move to Spruce Grove and be MG's neighbor.

Knock, knock. Hello? Do you have a cup of sugar I could borrow?
