Earth declares war on the Moon...

NASA is about to 'bomb' the Moon. A satellite is going to be 'shot' into a lunar crater with the intention of revealing if water deposits exist there.

    Nat Geog artcile

Is it just me, or is this so typically human? I can just hear the conversation leading to this...

1: There might be reserves of water hidden in the parts of crater that the Sun can't penetrate.
2: Yeah, but how can we find out.
3: Well a manned mission would solve it pretty simply.
1 & 2: WAAAAY to expensive. We'll never get funding for that!
3: so how about a robotic device? We've made some incredible strides there.
1: yeah... that's not going to happen either.
3: Alright, what about just using a satellite with some of the most up-to-date
    sensing equipment.
2: Wait a sec... what if we shoot the satellite, remote sensing gear and all right into the moon!
    3: But...
1: YES! That would be soooo cool!!
    3: But...
2: And the Pentagon would be totally behind that! I'm smelling grant money!
    3: But...
1: And think of the publicity! It will so make YouTube!
    3: But...
    1 & 2: We're completely doing this!
    3: never mind.
    Turf Toe:
    - "...turf toe is a common malady that is more of a nuisance than a serious injury."
    - "Turf toe can often progress into a chronic problem..."
    - "A mild instance of turf toe (grade 1) can be merely aggravating while a serious case (grade 3) can be debilitating."

aren't they sending 2 things into the moon.. one to create the hit while something remains in orbit to record data, then it will crash into the moon 4mins later...

All going to be on Nasa's website for live viewing.. at like 720 am EST...

They've already done this with a comet once, with satisfying results.

Next scheduled stops, Regina and Calgary.
Out of my mind; back in five minutes.

NASA tried it with Regina once. Everything went fine except NASA had been drinking and it was dark outside and, well, long story short they missed Regina and hit the pizmo hole next to it - Moose Jaw. Saskatchewan screamed, slapped NASA and left. Now NASA can't get it's texts returned.

I hate that I have to work while this is happening, but I have a feeling that footage will be underwhelming.

...I also can't help but think Michael Bay was somehow involved in the decision making process for this.

Did anyone watch this? It just happened to be on while I was eating breakfast and man was it ever unspectacular.
