Admittedly I haven't seen any of this year's nominees except Frankenweenie.
Still haven't seen Avatar...and don't ever plan on it. (James Cameron is on my sh!t list...)

Yeah, Avatar was good, and obviously a visual marvel in 3D... but don't think it was the best film of the year, I was fine with The Hurt Locker winning that one.
Look. We can go round and round about this all the live long day. Let's keep it simple. I embody amazement. Can you dig on that? Good. Then meet me on the corner of rock and roll, and bring a flask of something that burns.

You should watch it. I kind of got drawn into it and the wife watched for a while and then sat down and watched the whole movie.

I would probably have like Django more if I didn't love the original. Tarantino changed it so much it had no true correlation to it.

I thought Django Unchained was an original screenplay written by Quentin Tarantino. What is the original to which you are referring?

Probably Django from 1966. Franco Nero has a cameo in Django Unchained. Tarantino used references from all sorts of films in this original screenplay as he always does.
There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

DDL definitely deserves the Oscar for best actor. I can't think of anything more challenging than taking on someone of such significance in this part of the world and pulling it off with such charm and grace...
