I'm not debating this again, so this is my last post on this thread about this topic...but

Fact: the U.S. has THOUSANDS of times more mass shooting deaths than any other developed nation.

Fact: the U.S. has some of the laxest gun control regulations in the world.


Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results...

Sorry Diez the Root cause is too many Guns and not enough protections in place to ensure crazies and criminals can't get them.

Disagree fully and completely.

1.Criminals will always get guns. ALWAYS

2.Crazies will always be crazies unless there are programs and facilities in place to help them get treatment, stop resorting to illicit drugs/self medication, and prevent them from becoming #1

Chicago is a "gun free zone" with the same style of regulations the gun control types want to implement. Chicago has some of the highest gun murder rates anywhere. Appears to be working well I see...

3. Until one tackles to root causes of violence, this argument never gets anywhere, and resources that should be put into #2, will get spent on lobbyists on both sides. You could remove every gun in the US tomorrow and America's real problem; violence will still remain and that violence will continue to be acted upon by those unable to deal with their behaviors. You'd also better be prepared to ban about a third of all items found in hardware stores after guns..

Guns have imbedded themselves into American Culture. Restricting them doesn't change the culture of guns being cool, or part of being a patriot...

I agree with Diesel's idea behind tackling the root causes. There should be more attention put to that in general...high-risk kids. Unfortunately, it doesn't win elections so it has and will continue to be an important overlooked aspect of the societal problem in the US in general.

What I will say is the NRA's subtle lobbying of mainly republicans into neutering the ability to keep any sort of checks on guns or background checks in general is where the problem lies. Nobody wants to take the guns but no hunter needs a high-powered assault rifle. And if you do; you're a douche...

I was just in the U.S. in August and saw a guy with a shirt that said, "Pro-God, pro-life, pro-gun." It was so American, you could almost hear the drawl coming out of the shirt.

And that was after I saw that famous bumper sticker with a gun silhouette on it which says, "In Texas, we don't bother to call 9-1-1..."
