Tim Conway - Comedian & Carol Burnett Show star passes at 85

Tim Conway, the agile comedian who was a core member of the “The Carol Burnett Show” troupe and starred in string of Disney film comedies in the 1970s, died Tuesday morning in Los Angeles. He was 85.

A rep for Conway tells Variety he died from water on the brain.

In later years, Conway had success with his “Dorf” series of comic how-to videos in which he played a bumbling, diminutive Scandinavian character by standing on his knees. He also lent his versatile voice to a slew of animated productions ranging from “SpongeBob SquarePants” to “Scooby Doo” to the Christian video series “Hermie and Friends.”

Over his long career, Conway was nominated for 13 Emmys and won six. For “The Carol Burnett Show,” he was nominated six times as a supporting performer in a variety or comedy series, winning in 1973, 1977 and 1978. He was also nominated as part of the writing staff for the show, drawing three nominations and winning in 1978. In addition to those four Emmy wins, he won in 1996 for outstanding guest actor in a comedy, “Coach,” and in 2008 for guest actor in a comedy for “30 Rock.”

Tim was a huge part of many people's lives growing up. So many great sketches - this is one of my favourties. Rest peacefully and thank you for the laughter, Mr. Conway.

Hope, at the end of the day connects us all, no matter how different we are

The Carol Burnett Show is still one of the funniest shows of all time, IMO.

Carol, Tim and Harvey. So damn funny.

He was one of the ones on the Carol Burnett show that didn't always break up laughing... Mainly because it was his lines that were the funniest!

The dentist sketch from the CBS is still one of the best sketches in TV history.

Corman - I must warn you...I have cohorts...

Conway - Oh that's ok, I had that when I was young...

Or another that sticks out in my head. Conway coming in to serve dinner singing "Hold the lettuce, bring the pig in. Madam's really gonna dig in..."

The Carol Burnett Show ran from 1967 through to 1978.
Back then an incredibly funny show. Helped get us through many long winters.
Tim Conway unforgettable and much beloved.
Did other work too, besides that remarkable show.
Thank you Tim Conway, for bringing laughter to so many many millions.
