well its almost official...

News Talk radio has learned former Saskatchewan Roughrider quarterback Kent Austin will be named the team's 26th head coach in franchise history. Austin arrived at the Regina International Airport Tuesday night. When asked to confirm the speculation in a News Talk radio exclusive, Austin responded by saying "I've been told by my soon to be boss, that I need to wait to answer those kind of questions till tomorrow(Wednesday) at the press conference, I wanna make sure I honour and respect that." Austin says he doesn't blame fans for still holding anger toward him for his unceremonius departure from the Riders back in 1994, but adds he is willing to try and mend those fences.

from comment from Eric Tillman himself, there was more to it in Toronto, Kent got all the blame for not using his running backs, but Kent had his hands tied.

time will tell I guess whether you are right, or Mr. Tillman is right.

i think Condell might be in good with Tillman from the Ottawa days......but I don't have a timeline on that. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I think Rider fans are probably 50-50 on this decision. Lots of optimism while the other half is throwing the season away already.

Count me in as one of the optimistic ones. He was a great player and designed a lot of the offense himself when he played. I still can't believe that there are some who are still mad about the way he left 14 years ago. He made a decision that was best for him and his family, so who am I to judge him for that? Plus, it was 14 years ago, people need to get over it already.

Regarding the run, who cares, leading the league (or near the top anyways) in rushing for the past several years didn't exactly lead us to the Grey Cup anyways. The running backs will still get their touches with swing passes, slip screens and circle routes anyways.

Overall, I think this is a great move for the Riders.

theres more in his favour then 50% man. Just from listening to the radio, public comments, fan boards etc

Prob is , IMO, your running game is/was your bread and butter - and it helped your inexperienced QBs throughout the game... take that away and you have to rely on the pass.. and well ya it doesn't look good
