Look. We can go round and round about this all the live long day. Let's keep it simple. I embody amazement. Can you dig on that? Good. Then meet me on the corner of rock and roll, and bring a flask of something that burns.

Originally posted by NumberzIf Gary Bettman was commish, he'd make a rule that Canadian teams can't win the Grey Cup, then he'd make it illegal for Canadians to be on the teams, then he'd just sell the league to NFL and make the CFL teams farm teams to the NFL.
He would also take out hitting because it's too violent. The CFL would chage to the CTFL (Canadian Touch Football League).

Re: American Comish?
I'd be open to US expansion now that the league is fairly healthy and no longer needs a desperate cash grab. If they were to approach it properly and target northern American cities, ie Portland, Columbus etc... then it's possible that such a model could work.I will not, for a moment longer, support an organization who chooses to cowardly kneel where they once fiercely & proudly stood

Re: American Comish?
I agree...as long they do it right, and as long as the facilities are there. I know both those cities have decent-size stadiums suitable for big-league soccer pitches (Portland has the USL, and Columbus has MLS)...the question is whether they have room for 150 yds of field.Originally posted by DieselI'd be open to US expansion now that the league is fairly healthy and no longer needs a desperate cash grab. And another thing to watch out for is college...once the NCAA season starts, the CFL would be BURIED behind Ohio State in Columbus in terms of media coverage and whatnot. Portland's university (Portland State IIRC) isn't nearly as high-profile, AFAIK.We're cheering Fight Fight Fight On Eskimos...

Re: American Comish?
SLOW, and MEASURED expansion to the south would raise the profile of the league, because it would raise awareness for footballers who are looking for alternatives to play football before the NFL.
The last expansion into the U.S. was all about a desperate money grab for expansion fees as the CFL was nearly on it's deathbed.
I think that with planning and guidance, U.S. expansion is certainly more viable than expansion to the East Coast.

Re: American Comish?
The only thing they would have to ensure if they tried an expansion to the states again is making the player ratio equal. None of this BS about american teams being able to dress all americans. It's too big of an advantage, especially when injuries come into play.Blindly accept whatever they do and if it doesn't work out, I guess there's always next year.

Re: American Comish?
Who in their right mind with any knowledge of the history of that position would take it??????? Answer ; Only some one from outside the country who doesn't know the perpetual poop storm the owners (B.O.G.) will throw at him.
Let me know when we start taking bets on how long he'll last.
