Apparently Jim Mullin called Wally, who has emphatically denied that he is stepping down.

Maybe he's reliquishing his coaching duties and will focus on being the GM?

Isn't that sort of stepping down for a guy like Wally? I can see someone else thinking it's a promotion, but Buono strikes me as a stay in the trenches kind of guy.

It isn't so...Buono has commented on this Internet rumor that "neither he or his coaching staff will resign or be fired during the course of the 2010 season.".

That pretty much nixes any and all Lions coaching staff rumors for the rest of the year....or does it?

The way he worded it, it could be that he's announcing that 2010 will be his last season behind the bench and will move to a full-time GM position... Or maybe it's to announce that Ricky Foley is coming back?

He should probably step down as coach and remain as the GM, but who on their current staff would be able to take over as HC? Chapdelaine--forget it as fans are calling for his removal as OC due to their inept offence so far. Benevides--perhaps as his name has been linked to HC openings in the CFL in the past. Stubler--not likely given his miserable failings as HC in Toronto 2 years ago.

                Stay tuned!!

Stay the course Wally! We need all the help we can get.

I'm very curious to see what Wally does in the next year or so.

Will he change his roles within the team? Will he try and rebuild from his current positions? ...or will he leave and try and find another team on their way up, like he did when he left Calgary?

                      ...maybe...us?

                      I wouldn't mind Wally, actually.
Out of my mind; back in five minutes.

Nice to see that McGrath was still horrible in the Friday Night Game...

I would love to have Wally here. He should have been here years ago when he was avalialble but we all know we missed the bus on that one.

It's way past morning here on the left coast.... Has there been any word?

I'm just as curious to see what approach they take with the current club. There are a number of similarities with what they're dealing with and what we've gone through... O-line problems, discontent with the OC/offensive scheme, inconsistency at receiver/drops, and even a veteran QB with spotty play, an older backup unable to do much in limited time and a young sophomore QB that shows good and bad. There are lots of differences as well, but so far, the tactic they've taken (adding a few veteran free agent castoffs) and issuing a complete vote of confidence to the coaching staff is far different than what has been evidenced with us.

I honestly can't see Wally starting again or moving to another club... I think it's either another role with the club or staying the course as HC/GM next year.
