Re: Martel Mallet
Not sure about this but I think the Lions would still have his CFL rights. He has been on and off the Eagles PR a couple of times since training camp and he might be smart to hang around the NFL in case some RB's get injured.Originally posted by Oiler View PostHe is released. A tough runner in the Pringle mould, if he were available to us for next year's training camp I'd like to see him here.

I think he had an outright release from BC so he may be a free agent.Originally posted by turftoe27 View PostNot sure about this but I think the Lions would still have his CFL rights. Re: Martel Mallet
It was an outright release, but presumably it was on a hand-shake deal, as Buono let him out of his contract for the NFL opportunity. The question becomes whether the Lions have room for him, not only on the roster, but to play a role for them. They may be just as happy with Davis and the young Canadians they have at the position along with the aging Robertson.
That said, it's a little hard to imagine the Esks going after Mallett with the kind of dollars or situation that would entice him to forego the chance at other NFL opportunities arising from injury, etc. It's not like they'd be offering him a starting role (and money) for years to come and a place to settle down.Life is Good.

Re: Martel Mallet
He played worse behind a better o-line... who gives a ****?
Arkee is better."This year, we did what we were supposed to do. We fought as a team. We fought as a team. And the fact is, we gotta go back and go to work, to make sure we finish this next time. That's all we gotta do. This right here makes us stronger. Let's understand who we are as a team. Let's understand this right here makes us stronger." - Ray Lewis, January, 2012.

Yes, it was, but that's the CFL for you - basically a joke.Originally posted by ben_the_eskimo View PostId way rather stick with Arkee. He is one of the few guys that displays the traits we've all come to expect from an Eskimo player but few have lived up to as of late. It was a joke that Mallet finished with fewer yards and still got ROY ahead of Whitlock.Maciocia, Hall, Strasser, Hairston and Thorpe are finally all gone. The rest will take care of itself.
Good luck Kavis Reed and the rest of the Esks' new coaching staff!
