    Riders get a TV

Not a surprise, as everyone knew it was coming, just the official announcement. Good on 'em, but if they think they are getting GC 2012....

    Riders to get new videoboard
The Saskatchewan Roughriders have received $1 million for a new videoboard as part of a 10-year agreement with SaskTel.
SaskTel obtains exclusive advertising rights to the videoboard, which is part of a $12-million upgrade to Taylor Field. The Roughriders also get unspecified payments from SaskTel for the duration of the deal.
"The Riders and SaskTel have had a long-term relationship and we are extremely pleased to sign this agreement," Jim Hopson, the Roughriders' president and CEO, said Friday in a release. "Having a videoboard is a key component to our plans of continuing to make Taylor Field the best place to watch a CFL football game where fans are both entertained and informed."
In December the Roughriders announced plans to upgrade Taylor Field with an eye toward landing the 2012 Grey Cup game - the 100th anniversary of the championship game.
The club expects to have the videoboard ready for its season-opening game June 12 versus the B.C. Lions.
Renovations to the Riders clubhouse are also finished and a new sound system should be in place by mid-season. Upgrades are also being to made to the stadium's east-side concessions and club seating.
It's 106 miles to Chicago, we've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark, and we're wearing sunglasses - Elwood Blues

I hear it's only going to have 3 channels and the biggest set of rabbit ears you've ever seen!
I will not, for a moment longer, support an organization who chooses to cowardly kneel where they once fiercely & proudly stood

      LMFAO
Before you insult a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way, when you insult him, you'll be a mile away, and have his shoes.

Finally, they are behind the times on this one. About time they got rid of that stupid high school scoreboard.

I dunno. Looks pretty to good to me if you're interested in watching TV at a football game....And the score looks good, too....

A little birdie told me the riders have a better than 75% shot of getting the 2012 grey cup....lets just say Tom Robinson in his new role as chairman of the board of the CFL governors will help with that a little...
RIDER PRIDE is where its at!

GITC, from the looks of your scoreboard, it would appear the Riders are saying they are going to be televising fiction on there, as the game goes on?

A rather large CFL "birdy" has told me the both Eskimos & Argos are both going to make a major push for the 2012 game. I'm not going to deal in percentages, but I can tell you the chance of the Riders getting the 100th game is average at best - They are more likely to get 2010 (the Riders anniversary of football).
Tom won't be in that position long enough to help the board determine the 100th game site - he'll be done after 2 years, during which they will allocate the 2007, 2008, & 2009 GC game (possibly the '10, if the desire by the board is there to do so).

I don't know about that. Methinks Eskimo fans have a pretty good idea how hard it is to win at Taylor Field...

And the Riders' home record over the last three seasons is very respectable.

You are right, Eskimo fans do know how hard winning the Grey Cup there was. But we did it anyways

Easier than winning it in front of your own home crowd I guess. Albeit a big one, that's also the ONLY one in quite some time, eh?

And I don't see the Eskimos name on the scoreboard in question but if reality is what you're looking for, I guess the "Argos" name could be swapped out for ya. I can't believe the so-called 'artist' that did up that rendition used the Argos anyway....

Nahhh...I'd say a long time would be in the vicinty of 15, 16 years...but then again, just being in one is fun. Hell, winning 12 is even more fun. But, hopefully the Riders get to experience it some day.
My thinking is that the "artist" was from the center of the universe, and couldn't imagine there being any other CFL teams outside of the Argos one would want to watch
