Just announced today in Montreal that he's hangin em up after a fine career. I won't be sad to see him go as he always seems to have our number whenever we play the Als. Now if AC would just do the same.....

Re: It's official--Ben Cahooooooon retires!
He's just one unretirement away from texting a picture of his junk to a Bombers sideline reporter...Look. We can go round and round about this all the live long day. Let's keep it simple. I embody amazement. Can you dig on that? Good. Then meet me on the corner of rock and roll, and bring a flask of something that burns.

Have I been huffing paint again....or didn't he already announce this a while ago...or is this just the "official" announcement? Kind of overshadowed Thelwell hanging it up in cowtown eh?
Great career Ben, the Als will miss you...Once an Eskimo, ALWAYS an Eskimo.

great career, great guy. But a 'canuck'? ... not so much. Just ask KP8 how the system isn't quite 'perfect' when it comes to that. But on the flip side, our league benefits. And beyond that, guys like 'Hoon wouldn't have had nearly the 'play' down south... so we're all better for it. All that's left is to say,
Thanks Ben. I hate you. But I respect you more than most other non-Esks.Turf Toe:

and yet he excelled on a much larger field, in a faster game.... hmmm.Originally posted by writfiler View PostDoubtful if he would have ever made it in the NFL--too small
and too slow......
edit: Ask Brian Kelly if speed is the only factor in being a great receiver.

Re: It's official--Ben Cahooooooon retires!
In fairness, both of Ben's parents are Canadian but he was born in the US when they were working down there. I have a friend that worked as a chemical engineer in Calgary and worked with Ben's dad when Ben's CFL career was just beginning. Hair splitting aside, the 'hoon turned out to be good enough to make any roster regardless of his birth certificate, but it begs the question whether he actually would've been given the chance to do so and develop if not for the ratio status.Originally posted by TurfToe View Postgreat career, great guy. Every time Cahoon was coming up on free agency there were always the rumours that he'd come to one of the Alberta teams to play closer to home. I have to admire the fact that he never did and finishes his career in the same uniform as he started it.Life is Good.
