Bombers new stadium falling further behind...

    http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=393772

The saga continues are construction continues to fall further behind on the Bombers new digs... now they're speculating it won't be ready until September. First it was supposed to be ready for the pre-season (June 20th), then the regular season home opener (July 26th).... and now somehow in less then two months they've fallen another six weeks behind schedule

They're starting to get dangerously close to even money in my books for whether they play in it at all this year.

Look. We can go round and round about this all the live long day. Let's keep it simple. I embody amazement. Can you dig on that? Good. Then meet me on the corner of rock and roll, and bring a flask of something that burns.

So, what's the alternative? Is their old stadium even able to be put into emergency game shape?
Out of my mind; back in five minutes.

I think it's always been plan B... they didn't start tearing it down, so I'm sure it's in as good of shape now as it was this time last year.

Just open it next season. Don't rush to finish because there could be more issues down the road. They already dropped the ball by announcing it'd be done this season. What moron's for thinking building a 30,000+ seat stadium would be complete PROPERLY within a year.

i think the idea was that they we're gonna play in it at 80 percent but there not even close to the 80 percent .. i heard that the season opener was just a soft open anyway and the banjo bowl was to be the full luanch.

Yeah, the way they're going they are just going to cause more headaches continuing to dangle the new stadium as a carrot the rest of this year. Get CanadInns ready, and get comfortable.

If the stadium does manage to be game ready, worry about it then and surprise everyone in a good way, rather than the current state of affairs.

Believe me guys, it may be in trouble, but if you knew our bloody mayor, you wouldn't think his word means anything on a topic like this.

I'll wait for the official May 1st announcement.

btw, I'm not sure why these 'updates' never mentino it, but the response to falling behind has not been to simply open later. The crews have been working longer days, and 7 rather than 5 days a week.

Does it really matter if they continue to fall further behind schedule? Giving props for only being three months behind schedule rather than five (when two months ago you were only one month behind) is kinda like giving the Riders props for being 5-13 last year instead of 3-15... who give's a s***, you're still dead last?!

                      I've heard opposite.
Read today that they aren't working OT's and they aren't working weekends.

Well, I've seen them working weekends, no real prove it's everyone, I suppose.

IM, I'm not saying I'm proud of the progress, just that treating the MAyor's hearsay as anything different than what everyone knows irritates me.

Seeing the latest photos of the stadium i don't think it will be ready in time for the reg. season opener. Shame. I'll have to postpone my trip to Winnipeg until next year. If they decide it will be a go for the regular season opener i can't see how the stadium will be "fully finished".

I know how Bombers fans feel though. I feel like the seat replacement at CW should already have been completed. Finally, they are starting to do it this year though. I can see the Bombers stadium being done in time for the Banjo bowl though. At the very least it will be completed enough so they can have the game at the new stadium.

Don't rush it half-ass just to meet a deadline per se.

Get it done right now so that there aren't expensive defect repairs needed later.

At this point it can't be half-assed, Muley. It's being built to the plan. If anything is half-done, it will be the July 26nd game being played without tv monitors i nthe halls, and carpet in the boxes. Whether or not they get far enough for that, I don't know (we will find out next week!) but there will be no cutting corners on construction.

Edit note:: Any games played in the old stadium WILL have the price difference credited to ticket holders accounts. Honestly, I'd love to be in the new one all year, but a year or two down the road no one will remember it didn't open in time. We'll (for a bit) have the nicest place in the CFL and I'll be thrilled!
