    Chris Williams Arbitration Hearing Thursday

I don't see a thread that is dedicated to Chris Williams arbitration hearing tomorrow. Very interesting case. Imho, I can't see the arbitrator siding in his favor which then puts him and the Cats in a very tenuous position.

The "option year" is a real point of contention with many stars in the CFL, a ruling in Williams favor may encourage other "option year" stars to attempt to get out of their signed contracts as well..

It will be bs if he wins this case.

Interesting. I guess if they formally offered him such a contract it would be relatively easy to prove as there would be a paper trail... if they didn't, his agent successfully found him a loophole. Seeing as all the key parties involved (GM and agent) are all new, it could be a real clusterf*** if the TiCats can't find any documentation supporting their case.
Look. We can go round and round about this all the live long day. Let's keep it simple. I embody amazement. Can you dig on that? Good. Then meet me on the corner of rock and roll, and bring a flask of something that burns.

It'll be a nasty divorce in the making no matter what the ruling is. The only thing the arbitrator is deciding is if Williams leaves the CFL this year or next year. He clearly wants to leave for the greener pastures of the NFL.
Keep an open mind, and you never know who might walk in...

There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

He's effectively killed his CFL career with this stunt...
While I can see why he wants to go, he should have just shut up...built up some more game film and left on good terms just in case he didn't make it down South. Now, nobody is going to want to bring him in out of fear that he'll just bolt after a year. I hope he doesn't win this and the Cats play the crap out of him this year.

The Cats should just cut him. He will be a huge distraction in the locker room or the media will make it a huge distraction. If the guys doesn't want to be there then the right thing to do is cut him.

Re: Chris Williams Arbitration Hearing Thursday

Williams is claiming he was not offered the minimum-term contract which is one year plus option. His agent signed him to a three year plus option. League rules maintain that the one year contract has to be offered no matter what other offer there is. His agent was NFL certified but not CFL certified and this is against CBA rules. Williams fired that agent in October.

Obviously he smells greener pastures but there seems to be a couple of CBA violations . If it can be proven he was not offered the one year term there seems to be a chance he could walk. Might depend on who is the believed during the hearing.

First win the arbitration and then cut him.

Scott Mitchell gave an interview saying that they had proof that they offered them the 1 +1, will look for the link.

I think the Ti-Cats should win...but what is the compensation, realistically speaking...?
