    Poll on cfl.ca

Which is the greatest play in Grey Cup history. I voted 96 catch even though we lost the game, it was close with the 87 return for me.

If we hit that bullseye, the rest of the dominoes should fall like a house of cards. Checkmate.

I have a feeling the 89 moment will take it all. Its all Rider fans have these days...But I voted for the 96 catch as well.

It's gotta be the '54 fumble return by Parker.....it started it all for the Esks. Did you notice the play by play announcer got the name wrong at first and said it was Johnny Bright? I didn't know John Wells was working in '54.

damn, that was a tough one......it was a really tough call between the greatest catch (TD catch too) in GC history...and Gizmos amazing return. In the end I had to vote for the return.

How in the world can you put the 1989 play in there? Sure it was a great game and that was the deciding play, but it was an ordinary 35-yard FG, for pete's sake. Hardly a "Greatest Play". Just an ordinary play with more significance.

EDIT: same for 1994, now that I've seen it.

                    I agree...and voted for Giz's return.

But the '94 kick was special because (a) it WAS the last play of the game (the '89 kick was not the final play) and (b) it prevented the American team from winning the Grey Cup -- like will draw a few nationalistic votes.

Where is that poll? Currently they have who is best placekicker in the west?

I think the best play was from 89 but it was Champion's catch on 3rd down. Pure clutch. Of course, I can look back at it fondly because the right team won.

I think that opinion would vary depending on the team you cheer for

How many Rider fans...in their desperation to re-live the glory days...will vote for the '89 kick EVEN THOUGH there is NO WAY it's the Grey Cup's Greatest Play?

Great 'cause you guys won the cup...but not a great play. It was just a FG from 35 yards out.

Its more so the fact that it was concidered one of the greatest grey cups ever played. People are confusing the two, it wasnt the greatest play, just the finale to the greatest game.

I think some of them would vote for it even if it was a 10 yd chip shot or a 1 yd TD plunge
