Nik Lewis signs for 5 more years

Good receiver, but I hope the Stamps didn't overpay for his services.

Why not? I hope they paid through the nose.

I don't see Nik lasting that long in any one place. Remember, he's the Terrell Owens of the CFL
Out of my mind; back in five minutes.

Good, Shannon Garrett will be 45 years old and still shutting him down in the games that count.

Because I hate to see situations where any player over-inflates his perceived worth and holds out for a larger contract than experience might dictate should be offered.

Nik is good...but will he still be good 5 years down the road and still have a fat contract? And will his contract be a bar that all other similar players set in their own negotiations?

It's those kinds of reasons why I hate to see one team spend good money over bad.

I don't wanna see Nik Lewis on any other team anyway. He's an idiot and him playing on an idiot team just seems right. I say they can spend as much money as they want on him, makes no difference to me.

he's 23.........he's already a proven receiver........a contract that ensures he won't be testing the NFL waters for neigh on 5 years.......you tell me that this contract wasn't a fatty and I'll have a bridge to sell ya.....

Looks like our neighbours to the south are packing on the salary this year.....

Eskimo fans complaining about salary structure? (I kid, I kid ). I think the Stamps have their heads up their shoots on this one. And I do realize he is young and could have an incredible career. But five years for a receiver in the CFL just baffles me. Who know, maybe Geronimo only has a five day contract and the he'll only be here for 2 and a half years.
It's gonna be legen... wait for it, and I hope you're not lactose intolerant because the second half of the word is ...dary....

Oh I am in no way complaining, just calling a spade a spade.......

Like you said, a five year contract for a receiver (any receiver) is a bloody rarity......now factor in that despite being a complete mouthpiece puke, the kid has talent......for him to forego the NFL shot he has to be getting comped big time.....

I'm not sure he could cut in the NFL. While he has the prima donna act down, he's just physically gifted enough to be a receiver there. My guess is the first year of his contract is going to be huge with each year after that much lower in salary in an attempt to get around the SMS. But if the league says the contract is good, I'm not going to complain either. Just laugh my ass off when he only get 32 catches for 478 yards this year.

Good on the Stamps in any case... any time you can lock up a guy with that much talent, that young, and for that long its a great move.

Not gonna stop the Eskimo's from kicking their asses three shades of blue, but its good for them
Look. We can go round and round about this all the live long day. Let's keep it simple. I embody amazement. Can you dig on that? Good. Then meet me on the corner of rock and roll, and bring a flask of something that burns.

...not exactly "Eskimo good" but alright nonetheless!

Good...I always like having a Stamps player to pin my most vile insults to. Used to be Alondra Johnson, Anthony McLanahan, etc. Nik will fit the bill quite nicely, plus Shannon Garret will have extra incentive to shut his big yap for another 5 years. Good times all around

Honestly, the man has ability as a receiver. But what I find interesting is how Flanders will keep the reins on him. He couldn't do it when it counted last year.

"As an individual, Calgary is where I feel comfortable," said Lewis.

I'm sure he does; he knows if he were to try that crap up north, he's be drummed out of the locker room by the receiving corps alone.

Indeed, the plus side is that he'll keep his dancing clown routine right where it belongs..

And as you said before, this will start to deflect some of the tired old criticisms of the Empire over-spending; they had to shell out some serious coin for a deal like this. They HAD to make if lucrative for him, no matter what kind of love-on he has for Cowtown, especially for a five year deal. He's not staying for the oil refinement and the Stampede.
