    Malvin Hunter...D-line coach..

D.M. on the radio this am said that Hunter would be taking over as the D-line coach and that they were looking for a new special teams coach. He did say that if they couldn't find the proper s.t. guy then Hunter would handle both and they would get him some help for the d-line coaching.

Not surprising really as Hunter did alot of coaching on the d-line the last two years in camp anyway. No word at all on whether we will be getting a new WR coach to replace Ronny Junior.

Gregor asked DM if the offense would open up a bit with the new oc and as usual he defended the 'conservative' offense of last year saying we didn't have the personell to 'open it up'.

Perhaps this would be an opportunity for a particular fellow by the name of Roberts....

Nah, then he'd have to stop posting at the Rider site.

I'm a little surprised that Mello decided to stay....

ST's were a huge letdown last year. Hopefully the league re-addresses the ridiculous blocking from the side rule.

I think he'd be a great hire for the spot.

I heard CC speak recently and he explained that that rule was introduced by the coaches to try to lessen injuries to the return guys... as a result it has slowed down the game and made it much less exciting. He stated that he realized this and was confident that the rule would be revisited this off-season.

lessen injuries? sheesh....did they blow that one.

Hard to protect your return guys when you can't block for them.

That would be great if he got a shot.

A bit surprised that with all the talk about Coach Mello not coming back last year, that he's staying and in an increased capacity, but pleasantly so.

We definately need someone else for special teams. I'm not putting the blame on MH but yikes did our special teams suck. It needs some serious work.

I see our line stronger this year because of this move.

I disagree with DM's statement that we don't have the personnel to make our offence more exciting. What about guys like Tucker, Hervey and even Mitchell? All three can go deep and are generally very reliable receivers. I have no idea what he's talking about....

If that's the case, then why didn't we go get some personel to "open it up". Every other team seemed to be bringing in and cutting players throughout the entire season, except the Esks. The few guys we did bring in were one defence. There are tons of american players bagging groceries and working at lumber yards down south. Bring them up.
