      Aint that the truth
When you don't know that you don't know, it's a lot different than when you do know that you don't know.

Uhhhh, I think I'd at least like to see what goes down in TC, before I start making predictions for the season.

Even then...DM can lose otherwise winable games. So I'll have to consider the DM factor.

but the whole point of this exercise was to go out on a limb! What's next 'uhh, I think I'd at least like to see what happens in the first half of the season before I start making predictions for the Labour Day Game.' or 'uhh, I think I'd at least like to see what happens during the season before I start making predictions about whether the Esks will make the playoffs.'

            - "Turf toe can often progress into a chronic problem..."

              BC 14-4
              Edmonton 11-7
              Sask 6-12
Calgary 1-17 (wishful thinking, realistically: 8-10)

Edm beats Sask in WSF 13-8
Edm beats BC in WF 45-38
Edm beats TO in GC 32-16
If you were an Argo fan, what reason would you have for watching football?

Re: Prediction for a new season

We'll make the playoffs, but that is mostly just my heart talking.....

for the most part I am worried that this team is being set up to win in 2008 instead of 2007. Even still, we had enough horses last year that we should have made the playoffs...we just couldn't beat a bloody eastern team last year if our lives depended on it (what, did we only win the one game against Montreal?), not to mention the bad luck in a couple games we should have had in the bag (the Milt debacle and the fumbled FG hold). We had the best record in the west against western opponants, but couldn't take advantage of the free space on the bingo card against a team like Hamilton last year.

                Pros:
                - revamped secondary (should be the leagues best on paper)
                - O-Line continuity (should be solid)
                - A new OC

                Even:
                - Ranek in for Davis (this could be a con, but will reserve judgement if it means a more diversified attack)

                Cons:
                - Loss of leadership (Mobes, Swerve, Brady, and Frank)...this will hurt big time.
                - Receiving corp (aside from Tucker, won't scare anyone)
                - LB corp (AJ is the only incumbant)
                - D-Line (Razor thin depth)
                - NI depth all the way around affecting what we can do ratio wise.

More cons than anything else from where I sit, PJ will have had to outdo himself this year if we're going to have a legitimate shot at doing what we expect this team to do year in and year out.
Before you insult a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way, when you insult him, you'll be a mile away, and have his shoes.

could also be a Pro... only time will tell.

Re: Prediction for a new season

I'm sure you'll all say I'm being unrealistic, but I can't ignore this gut feeling that there will be some pleasant surprises personnel-wise this year. From both Canadians as well as some new imports.

I think they've done a pretty good job signing some really good guys to compete at LB (tho I am a bit scared DM will go with Ricky Bell simply cause he 'likes the guy') but Heard has some solid credentials, and Dalton and Winn are not to be ignored either.
Our two biggest stars right now - RR and Tuck - both petty much came out of nowhere, and were easily dismissed as 'camp fodder' leading up to their first TC.

yeah, yeah, I'll take off the rose-colored glasses now...

Tucker came in with a higher pedigree than that. He was a fav target of some guy named Aikman for a season.

Ray for sure, but as Diez said...not Tuck. IIRC he was the leading receiver for Dallas his last year there.

Sure our receivers don't appear to be a threat (excluding Tucker) but..What a huge opportunity for some unknown "tough as nails" canadian kid to step up and become the inside go to guy. Some guys wait an entire career to have this chance to step up and become a highlight reel player. Does one our NI's have the key ingredient ?.... Desire!

And with that, I'd like to make some predictions for the 2005 season, if I may. I think we're gonna win the cup that year!!

                                How'd I do??
