I know it would be a stretch, but I'd love to see Maas back in green and gold...

      Would you?

Wrong time, wrong place for JJ.
Out of my mind; back in five minutes.

Exactly... it's unfortunate for Johnson he really never got a chance, but when you're playing behind a guy like Ray that's the way it goes.

But, he's got stuff off the field going for him and evidently had business interests that were better than sticking around here or rolling the dice someone else would give him a chance.
Look. We can go round and round about this all the live long day. Let's keep it simple. I embody amazement. Can you dig on that? Good. Then meet me on the corner of rock and roll, and bring a flask of something that burns.

Unfortunate, but at the same time logical.

          All the best, JJ.

no sir, I don't like it........

JJ could likely be starting on a few teams in this league IMO.....

I am less confident of the abilities of Jyles or LeFors to come and step in should anythng happen to Ricky now. They both still need more seasoning before I'm going to feel that they will be at the level that Johnson was at now.....

Best of luck JJ........we hardly knew ye.

                Really? Which teams?

I don't want to slag Johnson as he announces his retirement, but he gave little indication that he could be anything more than just another backup QB. JJ seems like a decent guy and I get the feeling he'll do very well in his off-field endeavors.

We'll never know one way or the other, I guess. He never got a chance. That's prolly why he left the game.

IMO, he could start tomorrow for Toronto, Saskatchewan, or Winnipeg....and if Maas isn't 100%, he would be a definate upgrade over what they have behind him there...

                          Re: JJ's Retirement official

At least with retiring before camp starts he can come back this season if we have a qb "emergency". Too bad for him.... never gotta fair shake from DM to get some decent time in to assess just how much he could contribute. Well, good luck in the future JJ!!

Given that Johnson rarely got off the bench here (right or wrong), do you not see how your assessment is at least somewhat questionable? Besides if all those starting opportunities are just there for JJ's taking, why didn't he ask for his release instead of retiring?

because his off-field buisness and connections were here.....not to mention his newleywed bride.....

Johnson never got off the bench because Ricky is as tough as nails and a HC that refused to put anyone else in when the game was out of reach.....not because of ability IMO......

I think there are a lot of people that judge JJ's ability by the amount of time he saw under live bullets...a pity that we'll never really get to know for sure.

From what I understand, JJ would have been battleing with Jyles for the 3rd string, the word is the DM paid a fair price for Lefors and promised him 2nd string in the deal.....makes you wonder.
