A couple weeks into camp...a few thoughts...
QBs - Ricky Ray looks to be in great form. I think Lefors is going to be good in time, Jyles is a bit of a disappointment. We should be good here unless Ray gets hurt, then we could be trouble.
O-line - I was very glad to hear the people in attendance and the Esks coaches say the o-line played well. It didn't sound good on the radio pass protection or opening up running holes wise. I'm much less worried now than I was right after that 1st game.
RB's - I think we will be fine here except that we don't really know if our halfbacks can block good enough. I think Goldie will do well and Ebell sounds like a good prospect. Ranek is good insurance. FB's should be fine.
WR's/Slots - Good news and bad news so far as I'm concerned. The good news is that guys like Peterson and Gaylor are looking good, the bad news is that none of the new guys seems to have forced themselves onto the team. I was a tad miffed at the Johnson trade but thems the breaks. Other than Tucker I still see no real play makers out there and that is a worry.
D-line - Didn't sound like they played that great against the Stamps and my pick for the biggest surprise player of the year (Guillory) got hurt. Not thrillled that Wes Cates ran big on the Esks. Time will tell, the talent is certainly there I think.
LB's - Another good news bad news area. The good news is that Perryman and Shabbaz sound pretty good but they will go through some learning pains. The bad news is that I very very little confidence in our depth, especially at MLB. They seem to be shuffling guys into Gass's spot willy nilly. Find a place for Dalton and leave him there, the guy is good.
DB's - It will take a bit of time to gel but once again the talent should be there, have to hope that we don't have any Durdens amongst the high profile guys we picked up.
Special teams - Fleming is the man again, no major worries unless he gets hurt. I'm not particularly happy that it seems that Tompkins has the job after one ex game. He flat out sucked last year no matter what the rules were. He has to have a big start to the year or I'll be bellowing as much as I did last year.
Coaching - It's going to take some time for the BJC offense to kick in. Be prepared for some rough spots early in the season. Barring injuries we will only get better but I'm prepared for some issues to start the season.
GM - Only time will tell depending on how we do this season but alot of the moves this year have been puzzlers to me, extremely inconsistent thinking at times.
I'm really hoping a few new players have big games on thursday and really boost the confidence that we have some players that will be here for 5 or 6 good years.

- he had EIGHT games where the punt return avg was under 6 yds per. Six of those games were under 4 yds each 
, and four of those were under 2.5. I know return yds were down overall, but that's ridiculous.
