    Esks bring in DE

    By JONATHAN HUNTINGTON, SUN MEDIA

The Edmonton Eskimos hope they have unlocked the secret to an improved pass rush.

Defensive end Isaac Keys - a former Arizona Cardinal - was added to the club's practice roster yesterday.

The move comes one day after the release of defensive end Stevie Baggs.

    NO TRYOUT

"He can play off the edge," said Edmonton head coach Danny Maciocia.

"Last year was his final year with the Cardinals and he was looking for an NFL tryout - and didn't find one."

Maciocia describes the six-foot-three, 245-pound import as a "true professional".

Keys played three games for Arizona in the 2004 season and appeared in six games for the Cardinals in 2005.

Classified as a linebacker in the NFL, he has just five tackles to his credit during his stay in the league.

At 29, Keys could be the catalyst the Esks are looking for.

Pressure on the quarterback from the defensive line has been almost non-existent at times this season, leaving the secondary in a vulnerable position.

    SEVEN SACKS

The Esks have recorded seven sacks in their last two games, but after eight regular-season games have only dropped opposing quarterbacks 17 times.

Edmonton has also formally announced the addition of slotback Mike Lindstrom to the practice roster - which was revealed earlier this week in the Sun.

Edmonton's next game is Sept. 3 in Calgary.

Well, let's hope the guy can play because DM said the same thing about Perryman. Ex-NFL'ers around 30 years of age usually don't have a big impact but here's hoping.

The way DM signs guys, trumpets their praises, and then releases them, I'm not holding my breath.

meh means who cares, whoopee, big deal, etc. At least that's what I am meaning when I say it.

Let the NFL cut signings begin.
Blindly accept whatever they do and if it doesn't work out, I guess there's always next year.
