    Re: So who woudl've thought....

I'm all for keeping the losses coming. There are changes that need to be made on and off the field. Fans have been held hostage for too long because of the record and the high season ticket base. The team is not winning...its boring going to games, etc. I guess we need to miss the playoffs more than once in a row to see something done and if that is what it takes then I'm all for it.

I agree...firing Danny tells the players that the season is over and we're packing it in. We still have a shot and no coaching change this season is going to make us better...

It could tell the players that the brass recognizes that there is a problem and is willing to make the changes. Making the playoffs is a long shot from here out no matter what, coaching changes may not hurt us any more than we are hurting ourselves right now. And there doesnt have to be too many changes yet: just let JC take over head coach. Then in the offseason, get rid of RC, and then go shopping for a new DC. This way, there will not be too much of a shock of having a new coach come in, and JC can run the offence the way he really wants, with no Danny input.

I don't really see how this could hurt us the way we're playing right now.

This is something that I'd like to actually have some facts on. Does anyone actually know IF DM is influencing BJC's playcalling? or RC's for that matter?

No supposition here... just want the facts.

There are a lot of folks leveling blame at DM. And maybe rightly so. But to make accurate criticisms one needs to know that facts.

It would surprise me greatly if DM made called any plays instead of the appointed O or D coord. It would also surprise me if he made decisions without at least some consultation with the appropriate Asst coach.

I don't think DM is blameless... but in the way that the coaching hierarchy is set up with the Esks a lot of the problems that people are pointing out are because of the OC or DC... not the HC. And if DM has indeed been over-riding is Assistants... then that will automatically cause the hierarchy to collapse.

          - "Turf toe can often progress into a chronic problem..."
          - "A mild instance of turf toe (grade 1) can be merely aggravating while a serious case (grade 3) can be debilitating."

I find hard to believe is that the team only has three wins at this point in the season. I knew the team wasn't going to be great this season, but I just never thought it would be this bad. By the time the season began, I thought the team might, despite DM, inch back toward respectability. Boy, was I wrong.

I also find it hard to believe that management has put up with the questionable coaching for so long! That, in and of itself, shows me how much things have changed. Edmonton indeed used to be known as the flagship franchise of the CFL (at least some people called it that). I doubt we can call it that now. I hope we can again some day...

                Re: So who would've thought....

Part of the reason a Team won't listen to the Fans is because the Fan's story is often confusing / contradictory / not being based on facts so it is easily dismissed.

                Example:

                (A) DM running the offence. Mainly because we specifically hired JC to be the OC so it seems ludicrous for the fans to get up-in-arms over this type of thing. Point blank, I feel this is incorrect and allows the organization to dismiss "our concerns" with the offence if we use this for our reasoning.

                (b) It's JC's offence but DM is telling him what to do - this is pure speculation on our part, and again, if this is NOT true it just verifies an opinion that the fans have no clue on what REALLY would be best for the ball team.

                (c) It's JC's offence and he's calling the plays...but RR is getting to locked in on only one receiver, it's RR not opting for the handoff, etc. -- this is more of a likely explanation, but we don't know for sure.

I think DM has very little to do with the offense other than getting the players. I'm sure he has some input with BJC but I do not hold DM to task over our offensive scheme or play calling. He should not be blamed for the play calling or ills of the O other than player aquisition.

Personally, I believe it is a combination of these two. Yes, it is all speculation, as that is all the fan can do. Unless we are right in the locker room with them, all we can do is speculate. But I think the speculation is warranted. When we first brought JC in, the offence looked markedly different. There was some creativity with the play calling, some different looks. After the preseason and maybe a game or two of the regular season, the offence reverted to look very similar to the Danny offence of the last two years. And this look is completely different than anything JC showed coaching before. It kind of looks like DM just couldnt keep his fingers out of the offence. It seems like Either he didn't like what JC was calling, didn't like some of the "riskier" plays, or was just too much of a control freak to relinquish control of the offence. But again - all just speculation.

As for Ricky Ray, he has seemed a little off this year. He doesn't seem to have his confidence and only throws to the safe shor passes, rarely throwing the tougher passes into coverage. Maybe he's uncomfortable with the receivers, maybe he's uncomfortable with the system, maybe he's battling personal demons from something unknown to us. Or, maybe he senses a power struggle between JC and DM, and isn't sure what to do.

Or, maybe I'm just making up wild stories and none of it is true, and for some unknown reason we just suck this year.

He is the one I thought would get the job. He paid his dues and knows the game in and out.

When you don't know that you don't know, it's a lot different than when you do know that you don't know.
