Anyone Concerned ?

as much as its good to see Brock, Maas, Perry all back.. does anyone get worried of all the old Esks that are coming back? My co-worker brought this up and honestly I never thought of this till now...

whats everyone thoughts on this ?

Like I said before this never even crossed my mind.. but my thoughts would be...

whatever it takes to right this ship.. if that means bringing back ex-esks who know what the Esks are all about then so be it....

I think we have a lot of our next generation, and that we need some experienced guys to bring back the Eskimo Way, and it is being lost...

...but I do agree that we have to be careful of not going over board. At this point I'm not concerned, we are bringing in a decent amount of fresh blood each year.

If you could ask DM off the record, I think he would begrudgingly admit they pruned too much too soon, in terms of leadership. Now with Wad and AJ no longer here, we can use all the help we can get in terms of guys who were schooled in the Eskimo way. Normally a guy like KP wouldn't quite yet be ready for Primetime in terms of handling the torch, but he might have to take those reigns a bit. Braidwood, LaRose, and Bertrand are all going to have to emerge as leaders weather they feel they are fully ready or not.

I think its great. I agree that bringing in older players usually never pans out, however Perry is a proven rush end that can bolster our line, Maas brings tons of class and leadership back into the dressing room and although I'm not the keenest on bringing back Ralph, he is Canadian and can potencially be a good underneath type of reciever. I am not concerned with bring them back at all.

The one decision that I do however disagree with is bringing back Hayden Epstein. Give Kean his shot and make him feel comfortable that he can make some rookie mistakes.

DM is still here I am always concerned. I don't think Maas will help us at QB as much as we think. Getting Perry was a good move if he performs at the same level for 2 years. Remember Elfrid Payton? He was an all star one year and cut the next.

I'm not worried at all. Of the three, the only one who was brought back for reasons outside of his playing ability was Maas. Otherwise, both Perry and Ralph address needs that the Eskimos need to fill.

I would be far more worried if they were bringing back former Eskimos who struggled last season simply because they played well for Edmonton in the past. Given that there are so few teams in the league, it is inevitable that you'll reacquire a few of your own players over a duration of years.

Indeed.

We regressed 1.5 games last year......hey, we can only go through four more years of that before things literally CANNOT get any worse. And they shouldn't this year anyways, I don't think.
