Mike Bradley announces retirement



(Edmonton) The Edmonton Eskimos today announced that veteran running back and special teams ace Mike Bradley has retired from football.



Bradley spent his entire six year pro career with Edmonton, developing into a double threat as both a running back and kick returner. Originally signed as a free agent in 2002, the former Waterloo star and Hec Crighton nominee’s career highlight came on Oct 17, 2003 vs. Winnipeg when he returned the opening kickoff 92 yards for a touchdown.



In 2007, Bradley played in all 18 regular season games on special teams, recording six tackles and returning six kickoffs for 88 yards.



Eskimo Head Coach & Director of Football Operations Danny Maciocia says, “Mike was a fearless competitor with a tremendous work ethic who represented the Eskimo organization extremely well during his career.”

I always thought he was a good player...lots of speed and explosiveness.

Thanks to Mike Bradley for his hard work while an Edmonton Eskimo.

Always played hard on special teams. Had some solid kick returns in his time here. Even had the odd memorable carry on offence.

My favourite memory of Mike was him busting for a 20+ yard run for a first down in the 2002 West Final against Winnipeg on a third down gamble.

Wonder why; 6 years seems too short a career, and I thought the guy was still fairly young.

But at least the guy got 2 GC rings in 6 years...not too shabby, as there were many people wearing the wheaties uniform who played for years and never won a thing.....*FLAME*....

I was hoping he'd stick around for one more, Mike's a fantastic guy and a great player. One of the best in the league at what he does, he's a guy that MUST be accounted for in each special team when you're scouting Edmonton. His grit, determination and leadership will be difficult to replace to say the least.

I wish Mike and his family all the best in his new endeavors, he epitomizes the Eskimo way and what it means to be a team player.

Will never forget Oct 17/03 vs WPG when you ran back the kickoff for a TD. I had had midterms that whole week and was dead tired going into that game (FNF, which was kinda nice)...and that one got me out of my seat in a hurry. That game clinched 1st for us.

I love guys like Bradley, he wasn't even on the radar to make the team his 1st year here and he just had a great camp and opened some eyes. Good luck to him in the future.

Mike was a good Eskimo on and off the field. I think some of the war wounds of the game were taking their toll, as I know he battled neck problems.

All the best to Mike in the future, he did #22 well.

Great team guy, fun to watch those moments he got a chance to break one wide open. Special teams players are rarely noticed, but Bradley hustled on every play.

Bradley was one of my favorite Esks during his time in Green and Gold. A great competitor who always gave it his all to little or no fanfare.

All the best to Mike in his retirement. Character players such as Mike are hard to replace on and off the field. That 90yd+ K.O. return against Wpg. was a beaut. Wish he would have been given more opportunities to contribute as a RB. His size and running style always reminded me of Ronnie Stewart of the Ottawa RR's.
