Re: Mini Camp
Here's an off-topic question for you, BUCK - Are you a fan of RR from his roots at Happy Camp? There generally aren't a lot of Californians who follow the Esks or the CFL period so I'm just curious as to where your interest comes from.Originally posted by BUCK View PostAll first year CFL players report on Wed. June 3rd and will have their medical and fitness testing on that morning. All CFL veterans have their medical and fitness testing the morning of June 6th.
Regardless, welcome.

Re: Mini Camp
Reading something on the Bombers (Ed Tait) that indicated that they had started their QB sessions already and that they were continuing. I'd imagine that all teams have the opportunity to bring in the QBs early for film and playbook work. It's a little much to expect them to be hitting the ground running without that, and would severely cramp the effectiveness of other 'skilled' positions trying out if the QBs aren't knowing where the balls are supposed to be going, etc.Originally posted by cmbuk View Postsure i read a post from kp on FB that the rookie qb camp had already got underway???
i don`t know..! don`t quote me on that..
& as far as i have read, june 3rd rookies.
Not sure of parameters surrounding this, but sounds like something exists.Life is Good.

For some reason I'm thinking that it's against either the CFL rules or the CFLPA cba to have the players start training before a certain date...Originally posted by GreatWhiteNorth View PostReading something on the Bombers (Ed Tait) that indicated that they had started their QB sessions already and that they were continuing. Re: Mini Camp
You're right, there are some parameters surrounding that with the intent of having teams not have off-season mini-camps or football drills. I have to think that they would not be prohibited from doing off-season film review or work with the playbook though.Originally posted by boydo View PostFor some reason I'm thinking that it's against either the CFL rules or the CFLPA cba to have the players start training before a certain date...
"Guys are fighting for jobs right now and that's the way training camp is supposed to be," said head coach Mike Kelly. "I want them to understand that any one of those five who will be in the room during our quarterback school (which began Sunday) has an opportunity to win the job."

Re: Mini Camp
If you look at the clip that Swass provided regarding Mongo visiting to give his little man his tickets, then you will see that our QB's have at least got together for a throwing session early.Originally posted by cmbuk View Postsure i read a post from kp on FB that the rookie qb camp had already got underway???

about 40:10 in......Before you insult a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way, when you insult him, you'll be a mile away, and have his shoes.

Re: Mini Camp
While players can be brought in and have their own workout together, there can not be any coaches present at said workout (which is what the Bombers had in their plans).Originally posted by boydo View PostAnd for some reason I remember him getting fined or warned by the league about doing this...Before you insult a man, walk a mile in his shoes.
