He came perilously close to holding on a number of plays but he held his own.Originally posted by Beerfish View PostMcgrath played well, he got pushed back but didn't let guys come free.If we were put on this earth to help others, what were the others put on earth for?

Calm down, my wee little friend. No need to share with us all your mental capacity with the personal insults. Tone it down a bit, boy.Originally posted by Beerfish View PostYou are the one that made the idiotic post heaping glory on our gm, not me. Come back and extol his virtues after we finish better than last in the west.
You are the FIRST one on here, after every loss, reminding everyone not to put all the blame on the players or coaches, as the "top man in charge" is responsible for putting them all in that position, after all. I do the same thing after a victory, and you jump down my throat. Stuff it.
I could care less about your opinion, and neither do the Esks. DM isn't going anywhere. And I wasn't heaping idiotic glory on him, I was just pointing out a fact. First place in the West after 5 games. How about at least pretending you aren't the most sour, bitter individual on Earth for 5 minutes, and enjoy the victory, rather than searching and scraping to find every negative you can. Lighten up. It makes life more fun.

I'm willing to look the other way on the 2.9 yard average considering we were playing the #1 run stopping team in the league. The important thing is that our coaching staff stuck with it.Originally posted by Oiler View PostWhitlock only had a 2.9 yard average but helped out on his long KO run. I wish he had more power and speed to his running so he can turn the corner.

Bingo. It's amazing how much that helps our offense. The middle of the defense was open because the LBs couldn't just drop into coverage right away....and that's where Rector was doing his damage tonight.Originally posted by Traxy View PostI'm willing to look the other way on the 2.9 yard average considering we were playing the #1 run stopping team in the league. They mixed the run and pass, stuck with the running game, and most importantly, they attacked the defense. Hell, they threw the ball UP the field. I couldn't believe what I was seeing.
Our defense seemed to bend at times, but not break.
Soooo happy.
Oh, and Berrfish is right. DM has a loooong way to go before he is considered a good GM, and I'll stack his knowledge of football against some nobody any day of the week.

Our linebacking corps is vastly improved, with Restelli, Lloyd and Hill. These guys as a whole pursue much faster, make plays and can jam and cover the receivers.
Who were our LB's last year? Oh, yea, Augie, Onatulu (did he stick in the NFL?) and an aging Garrett. Onatulu was pretty good and Shabazz was good as a LB but misused as a safety. If we were put on this earth to help others, what were the others put on earth for?

Also evidenced in the run stopping...I think the run stopping has been amazing all season.Originally posted by Oiler View PostOur linebacking corps is vastly improved, with Restelli, Lloyd and Hill. These guys as a whole pursue much faster, make plays and can jam and cover the receivers.

Re: GDT: Montreal Alouettes @ Edmonton Eskimos
I spent most of the game looking at the left side of our line. McGrath got away with holding on numerous occasions.. but I would imagine that it happens quite often, as it wasn't necessarily FLAGRANT holding (waterskiing behind a bull-rushing D-lineman, etc).Originally posted by Muley69 View PostOn RF.com they are complaining that its the Esks (McGrath, in particular) who is getting away with the holding.
Focus only on the O-line and you'll always catch some holds that aren't called. Rider fans are of course going to spend all their time waiting for McGrath to fail.
I'd give him a passing grade tonight, considering how few times Ricky was hit.#PizStrong
