There's also the possibility that KP's pain threshold is just really really high...and it really didn't hurt that much to make him think that was the problem. Some players "play through the pain" more than others. Hell, look at Kep...for a while he was dislocating his shouler on every play and popping it back in on the way to the huddle...did it affect his play? If it did...nobody noticed. It is true that a guy that's in as good of shape as Kamau is...should have known something more serious was wrong...I've never had that kind of injury but know that some injuries feel like something else...you take it easy for a week or so and if feels fine and then you play, it feels a little off, but you attribute that to taking it easy for a while and then start training hard again. With football, you feel like you've been in a car accident all the time so something is always sore...it's inevitible that you're going to feel like crap for a few days and you can attribute pain to the hit you took or the diving catch you made or the block you made etc.
this is true,
off topic i know, but i tore ligaments in my left ankle in 08 when i played amateur soccer, docs told me 8 weeks and rehab, we were short on number the following week, so as manager i decided to play..
i played the last 7 games on it,
looking back now, i knew it was wrong, as as well as not being at my best phisically, it totally wreaked this ankle and was the reason i retired at start of 09..
kamau is only gonna benefit from getting the proper treatment and rest.. ( luckily its a small tear)
I don't recall saying I had a problem. So don't put words in my mouth. My point is that I don't trust a thing that comes out of Maciocia's mouth. Nothing. Not a single word. And as a result, it wouldn't surprise me a bit for Maciocia to put KP on the nine game list twice in succession, even if he's healthy.
Obviously, I'm happy that a quality player like KP is going to get the treatment he ultimately needs to get healthy. However, even having read his post, it blows me away that a professional sports team with multiple trainers/therapists/doctors on staff, failed to buck up $500 to get KP an MRI for an injury that wasn't responding to treatment for a whole season. And as long as I'm being really honest, as a fan who wants to see the team succeed, it bugs me a bit that a player of KP's importance wouldn't put his foot down and demand an MRI or take himself out of the lineup until he got one. Let me explain. If you've seen this man up close, without pads on, you will have seen that he is an incredible physical specimen. He is in such incredible shape that he reminds me of a world-class 100M sprinter. He looks like the cartoon character Ironman he's so built. I say that because my guess is that an athlete like him knows his body better than anyone, and he must have known something was really wrong. Why not refuse to play if you are only running on one leg as he has said? Was there overt pressure to be on the field? There may have been. Was it the Most Outstanding Canadian in our league showing the grit and determination that made him overcome his unflattering nickname to become the great player he is, refusing to take himself out of the lineup? Undoubtedly this was part of it too. But at what point does a player need to take himself out so as to not hurt his team?
I have the greatest respect for KP. He's showed himself to be a great receiver when at the top of his game physically and mentally. Highlight reels don't lie. I also believe that he's an equally quality person. However, a player can hurt his team big-time by taking the field when reason says they should let the 2nd guy on the depth chart step into the lineup. If you don't believe this, watch a replay of the last Grey Cup game played at Commonwealth and tell me that John Avery's stubborn decision to play at way less than 100% with his bad hamstring, played a huge role in that game.
Your problem is taking a simple thing like the placing of a player on the 9 game injury list into something that was done underhanded by DM. That's your problem. An F-18 just crashed in Lethbridge(Pilot OK). DM obviously is to blame for improper maintenance.
If it's the KP from 2008, he'll be sorely missed. But if it's him from last season, not so much. Talbot should be able to pick up the slack if only they'd throw to him!!
Does the 9-games start from now or from when he went on the 1-game IR?
It's going to be on others to pick up the slack whether they're being thrown to or not. Running every route with the commitment as if they're the first read. Blocking effectively for your teammates. Preparing as a professional and leading by the example that you set.
There's no questioning that KP8's role has changed from being the go-to guy in 2008, but he's proven that you don't need to see 10 targets a game to be able to contribute. There may be another 4-5 targets to spread around in his absence, but those aren't the only way for others to step up their game. As teams gameplan more and more to try and take away some of the elements that Stamps and Campbell bring, the rest of our receiving corps is going to become that much more important, both in freeing up those two by doing the right things, but also in ensuring that Ray has other weapons to rely upon.
All the best in the rehab KP. Hoping for a full and speedy recovery.
This does smell fishy. Who knows what's going on in DM's mind, but does this not take Kp's salary off the books for now? If it does, I would not be surprised to see KP's injury being a "season-ending" injury after the first nine games are over. They've got to pay Kelly Campbell somehow. I told a buddy at the beginning of TC that I thought the cheaper of KP and Talbot would be retained with the more expensive being let go to save some cash, and then Campbell showed up. Don't put this past Little Napoleon!
Yeah... why give credit for the roster management that had the team keeping five NI receivers, including three that come with veteran salaries. The media had built up the Talbot or Peterson thing, but the organization found a way to keep both and do so in a responsible, workable way.
What would've been a devastating blow in previous years is now something that, on the field, we can reasonably foresee playing through, and look forward to having a healthy and rested KP for the stretch drive.
There's enough stuff that can stick to DM without having to make s*** up.
I have no idea, dude. He said Andre so I took a guess, based on the fact that you had asked questions about or had referred to Talbot in some of your previous posts.

Just a big fan of his from his days in T.O. Hopefully he and the rest of the Eskimos show up tomorrow. I'm sure they will. Don't quite understand the anger
