    PR masterstroke? Nah...could they?

A thought popped into my head this morning. Hear me out.

    What if:

-the BoD is floating the idea of Tillman, KNOWING full well that opinion will be polarized and debate will rage.
(maybe or maybe not under the pretention that "any press is good press")

-...but planning all along to hire someone else who is qualified (even they couldn't be that dumb to hire an unqualified GM TWICE in a row).

-...therefore leading to an outpouring of support for them/the club (because the Tillman opposition will be SO relieved that it wasn't him, and the Tillman support/neutrals will be satisfied that the hire is qualified etc. Certainly, on the whole they wouldn't be abandoning ship because it wasn't Tillman).

-...and thus everyone feels good about themselves, and maybe the BoD gets themselves another term (or something), and maybe the calls for RL's head die down, because it appears (and is somewhat true) that the club thought hard about it and reviewed all the options and upheld "The Eskimo Way" and looked at the moral and football values and potential PR situations and made a GOOD decision - and that's what everyone wants.

    Conspiracy theory, yes.

Unrealistic? I wouldn't put it out of the question.

Based on the track record since 2006 I don't believe they are capable of something that well thought out
I will not, for a moment longer, support an organization who chooses to cowardly kneel where they once fiercely & proudly stood

I only hope that they're that smart.

Certainly you may be onto something, as there are many that wouldn't be satisfied unless Tillman was strongly considered. This would satisfy both camps.

Just a distraction to steer away from how humiliating the last month and a half has been for the organization, fans, and the city in general.

If they are, I vote we revolt...take the Esks office by force. There are enough smart people here that we could run a football team...or hire the right people to do it.

I don't believe for one second RL and the BOD are that smart. I think Dan Barnes was pretty close when he said they really want to hire Tillman and are just floating the idea to gauge fan support and/or backlash.
Maciocia, Hall, Strasser, Hairston and Thorpe are finally all gone. The rest will take care of itself.

Good luck Kavis Reed and the rest of the Esks' new coaching staff!

Maybe they really want to hire good old Neddy so they float the Tillman rumor to distract us from freaking out.
Blindly accept whatever they do and if it doesn't work out, I guess there's always next year.

It's been a couple years since I talked to Tom about it...but last time he was pretty adamant that he wouldn't come back to Edmonton after the way things went down. He (and Sharon) really enjoyed their time here, but after seeing DM get promoted for something worse than he was fired for...he had a bad taste in his mouth for the double E. But like I said, that was a few years ago.

I was only kidding, there is no way they would bring him back.
