A thought popped into my head this morning. Hear me out.
What if:
-the BoD is floating the idea of Tillman, KNOWING full well that opinion will be polarized and debate will rage.
(maybe or maybe not under the pretention that "any press is good press")
-...but planning all along to hire someone else who is qualified (even they couldn't be that dumb to hire an unqualified GM TWICE in a row).
-...therefore leading to an outpouring of support for them/the club (because the Tillman opposition will be SO relieved that it wasn't him, and the Tillman support/neutrals will be satisfied that the hire is qualified etc. Certainly, on the whole they wouldn't be abandoning ship because it wasn't Tillman).
-...and thus everyone feels good about themselves, and maybe the BoD gets themselves another term (or something), and maybe the calls for RL's head die down, because it appears (and is somewhat true) that the club thought hard about it and reviewed all the options and upheld "The Eskimo Way" and looked at the moral and football values and potential PR situations and made a GOOD decision - and that's what everyone wants.
Conspiracy theory, yes.
Unrealistic? I wouldn't put it out of the question.
