I'd have to say that some of our "boys" have become a problem.

I'm amazed at how many people still point to Ricky Ray or injuries or referees etc. etc. as the source of the difficulties.

Well, it will be interesting to see who gets the HC ticket from the old boyz club. If it's Campbell then I'll just sit back and watch the fur fly here on the threads.

As you well know, I'm a fan of Tillman as a football man, so I don't care about Tillspin as you've referred to it, whatever that may be. However, I do agree with you, and others on the site, that a large share of the responsibility for the football mess we are in needs to land at the feet of Goss. I may be wrong, but Goss would have given the final rubber stamp to two things: a) appointing a businessman as head over football operations b) allowing that businessman to reward a losing coach with a promotion to GM. If he were the chair of a Fortune 500 company, he would have been voted down as chair in a heartbeat. Absolutely fatal mistakes of which no sane person could disagree.

However, apart from falling attendance due to the on-field mess, Goss has presided over pretty impressive changes at the old ballpark and a massively successful Grey Cup ($$$$$$$$$). This has got to count for something. My hope is that regardless of what you think of Goss' & Lelacheur's current choice to run the football ops, that he matches his recent success in picking head coaches. Right now I would be happy to see anyone come in and duplicate the success of Tillman's last two choices as head coach: Austin & Miller.

Finally, even if Rick Campbell has a great interview, you would think he'd be passed over, as the optics would be so, so bad. It would appear that old Hugh was still the webmaster back in Idaho. It's just not the right place for Rick Campbell. No way. If he's truly qualified as a HC, then the doors will open for him somewhere in the CFL, but not here. Please. If it does, I may have to ask you to help me develop an avatar with Tillman's face that would reflect arrogance, because ignoring the wishes of the fan base to that extent, for his first hire would be assinine. Our city has to make a clean break from clinging on to people that were associated with two exceedingly wonderful, all-time great sports dynasties. That's my two cents.

Now that it's pretty clear Austin is out, I am intrigued by Dave Dickenson. Cerebral, tough-as-nails, indisputable on-field success as a player. These qualities translate well to leading a football team. Should be interesting.

Optics? It would appear that optics are the last thing on the mind of the BoD.

They have one, but that day must have been a bad day for an eye exam...

I don't like any of the names on that list except Chris Jones and not really sold on him.

Campbell and Jim Daley are the worsed DC's we've had. Campbells name is there for a conversation piece to get this board talking.

I hope you are right but the Eskimos have clearly told people in the last few years that the paying customer has nothing to say about it.

Aside from being inexperienced as a head coach...the only other problem I would have with Dickensen being the Head Coach here...I'd be waiting for the aftermath of his first win...you know when the guys are all excited and pour the jug of Gatorade on his head...and an oversized icecube bonks him on the head and gives him a concussion...would just be a bad scene!

Oh and please stop using that drumroll smiley...everytime I see it I'm reminded of the wasted 30 seconds of my life when I watched someone sayin play the drums for the camera...with mood lighting to boot!

People remember the good times and the names associated with them such as Campbell and Sather. Face it, Hugh Campbell is still a football god to many long time die-hard fans.

I wonder pushing Hugh's son to the top is an ill advised attempt to rally uneducated fans around the Campbell name?

if by "uneducated fans" you mean newer, younger fans then I think they would be more likely to remember Rick's difficulties as DC than his father's success as head coach before they were even born.
