Eskimos look to Calgary for new head coach

The Eskimos have approached the Stamps to interview no less than three of the Stamps' assistant coaches as candidates for the head coaching position: Dave Dickinson, Chris Jones, and Rick Campbell.

I wouldn't mind Chris Jones, maybe even Dave Dickinson.

Whether any of them come here or not - I am happy that at least they're being interviewed.

This, BoG, is an example of a textbook step in "How to conduct a PROPER search to fill a management position".

        I like Dickenson.

Not a lot of experience but mentally tough and has credibility. He could be another Hufnagel. Like Hufnagel Dickenson wasn't a Warren Moon but he made the most of what he had on the field. Good instincts for the game.

I think he would be a good one.

I have to wonder why Dunnigan is nowhere on the Esks reputed wish list. I come to the conclusion that either he doesn't want it or he has burned his bridges with the Eskimo organization.

Could be wrong, but I think Dunigan said at one point that he only wanted to come back and work for a team as both a head coach and GM...not one or the other.

That obviously isn't available here (though I wish it was).

During one of the TSN round table sessions in Edmonton one of the questions for the panel was if you could have any head coaching job in the CFL which one would it be and why. Dunnigan mentioned BC and Edmonton. But his eyes really lit up when he talked about Edmonton and when Jock Climie got his chance to speak he also mentioned how MD would be a great candidate for the EE. MD thanked him for the plug. They were all laughing about it like it was a joke but I just got the feeling that Dunnigan wants it and he wants it bad. If you check out the TSN website you still might be able to find it.

Being a good player doesn't always translate into being a good coach. I'd rather have someone with some more experience than Dickensen personally.

Well, let's bring back DM or Higgins or Hall. They have a lot more experience than Dickenson.

Yes! to at least interviewing jones!

                  Step on the right direction....

Now if we interview milanovich as well... That would be great!

I rank them Dickenson, Campbell, Jones in terms of likliness

Campbell above Jones simply due to his connection to the Eskimos (I think Jones is a better coach)- but my observations are

ET is more likely to hire an offensive guy as the head man - than he is Defence

and if the head man comes from the defensive side - I think Kavis Reed will be the pick

Don't be surprised if it's Campbell.....
I will not, for a moment longer, support an organization who chooses to cowardly kneel where they once fiercely & proudly stood

Oh, Gawd no - hex, hex, hex . . .

However, NOTHING this organization does - absolutely nothing - surprises me anymore.
Maciocia, Hall, Strasser, Hairston and Thorpe are finally all gone. The rest will take care of itself.

Good luck Kavis Reed and the rest of the Esks' new coaching staff!

I'd rather see Jones and his Defensive knowledge over Reed. Campbell won't be back.

If the Esks sign Campbell I might as well forget going to any games next year.
They hire him and they set this organization back another 3-5 years.

If it's Campbell then you have to think that its the final act of defiance of Lelacheur and the BOD towards the fans.

At that point you realize that the fans have no more influence with the team but I suppose that the way things have been going, no I wouldn't be shocked if it was Campbell.
