    Grey Cup comments/questions

I would like to receive comments on the any Grey Cup festivities that you may have-both good and bad. I have been to seventeen Grey Cups and I must say it was one of the better ones for organization that I have been to (especially the way everything was basically centrallized and easy to get to) however, I do have some conerns with some of the events. Basically, thee pregame tailgate parties-the price and entertainment.

A couple of weeks ago I had the opportunity to talk to someone from the festival committee on the phone about the concerns that I had. During the conversation we talked about Trooper playing at the outdoor tailgate party. I bought tickets to the party to see Trooper and was quite shocked to find out that Trooper was playing for free at the street fest on Saturday (I went-a great time). I am going to write a letter about my concerns and thought I would see if anyone one wants to provide any other input that I can pass along.

I never did attend any of tailgate parties and would like to get some feed back
    -were they worth the price?
-was there anything special about the indoor one?
-was the outdoor party on tiem? Trooper was suppose to end at 4 which would only leave 1/2 hr to get to your seat-was that enought time or was there delays that made you late for kicoff/leave the party early.

I also have to admit that I was leery about Bachman Turner being the half time entertainment but it was very successful.

Thanks ahead of time for any input.

Can't help you with the tailgate parties.

I was only able to attend one event- Night of Champions, hosted by Damon Allen. Loved every minute of it.... even though I got called a pedophile haha.

I found it to be a very well run event and loved how all the retired and current players were so accessible.

The only thing I didn't like was the early shutdown times of the concerts and open festivites, especially on Friday and Saturday. The last act on stage played until 8pm. This should've carried on a bit later, IMO. Also, no one could have predicted how busy everything would be, but making the BP tent in Huddletown bigger would have been smart.

All in all, what a great event put on by Edmonton! Hats off to the organizing committee, and for all those involved. It won't be 8 years before we get to host another one!

This was EASILY the best Grey Cup I've ever attended.

However, I was also a little concerned over some of the prices of some of the parties.

The biggest complaints that I heard was line ups at the concessions during the game...prices for some of the events and the LRT taking forever.
The only thing that I actually attended (not working while being there) was the Alumni Luncheon...which I thought was really neat but there again, a little disorganized. I mean, nobody really knew where they were supposed to sit, what the seat assignments were...but the food was really good! The open bar was great and it was awesome to see Coach Wilkie again! Not to mention Huff and other Esks Alumni. Jed, great to see you again by the way! It's always funny to hear people talk about how big Kabongo is...
As a volunteer all week...there was so much stuff going on behind the scenes it's a miracle that anything went right! I mean, the sheer volume of people that were working...all I can say is hats off to the hundreds of people that donated their time and braved the cold (during the start of the week especially). The guys from the Bissel Center that were shoveling snow off the seats...brrrr...not a job that I would have wanted that's for sure. I had to laugh at the RCMP guys that were going to be carrying the Grey Cup...they seemed really nervous until I told them that it's been dropped a few times before, and it's pretty light for its size. After the first practice run they said they thought it would be heavier and the only way they were going to drop it is if they biffed it on the turf!
All in all it was a great week but dang, I'm glad it's over. And yes, aside from not the most exciting game ever and the fact that we weren't playing...it was the greatest Grey Cup I've been to out of 23 of them!

Best Grey Cup event ever! I've only been to five so am not an authority but some of the media who go to all of them are saying this. Good job, Edmonton. It also keeps intact our record of never having Calgary or the Riders taking the cup into our dressing room.

We were downtown all day Friday. Hung out in the BP tent and their adjacent patio with the fire pit....that was a good time. Churchill Square looked awesome...something they didn't have at the last Grey Cup. Went up to the Spirit of Edmonton room on Friday night and that place was off the hook like always. Attended the tailgate with Trooper and Bif Naked. We had a blast at that as well but the price was a little steep. Commonwealth Stadium looked amazing....and how about the field? Nice to see green in late November and not that frozen solid brown. I thought the city and organizers did an amazing job. The city was alive and people were talking CFL football. To bad we got wait another 8 years before we see the next one in our town.

The events were fantastic! I was able to head down to huddletown fantastic stuff. I also checked out the BC Lions den party and the Spirit of Edmonton. Interviewed Wally Buono at the Lions den, I'll put the video of that up soon. The Spirit of Edmonotn I have to say was another great event, shockingly most of the fans that I interviewed for my show were Rider fans! Most of them were more than willing to go on camera except for 4 d***s that were Sask fans that refused to answer any of my questions and ended up saying to me on film "show us some ID kid, if not get out of our faces". Other than that it was good times.

In Vancouver, provided they can get the roof onto the stadium in time...

...and guess what? If it starts to rain, they won't be able to close the $500 million retractable roof they just bought

Not like it ever rains in Vancouver anyway.

And the last weekend of November you say - never then either...
There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

If people have Grey Cup game or event pictures, feel free to post them! If you don't feel comfortable with pics of you in them, just post "scenery" pics of the events. I'd love to see them.
